Callum Hudson-Odoi ruled out for the remainder of the season
After being helped off during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Burnley on Monday night, Callum Hudson-Odoi has announced that he has suffered a ruptured Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season.
Despite Maurizio Sarri’s side booking a return to the top four, the winger was replaced by Pedro in the 41st minute and was later seen leaving on crutches with a protective cast.
With many around Stamford Bridge nervously looking on as Hudson-Odoi hobbled down the tunnel, the 18-year-old took to social media to announce the extent of his injury.
Really gutted to end my season with an Ruptured Achilles, gotta work hard and try and come back stronger for next season!!!😢🙏🏾❤️ pic.twitter.com/PXC53WszdH

Hudson-Odoi out for the season
Although many around West London were disappointed by Hudson-Odoi’s lack of game time at the start of the season, the Chelsea academy star was enjoying his most successful spell at Stamford Bridge.
Starting four of the Blues’ last six matches across all competitions, the winger was expected to play a crucial role in both their domestic and European ambitions.
Along with missing Chelsea’s final three league matches this season, Hudson-Odoi will also be sidelined for their Europa League semi-final showdown with Eintracht Frankfurt later this month.
Despite being heavily linked with a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in January, Sarri has previously stated that he hopes that Hudson-Odoi will extend his stay with the former Premier League champions.
Prior to Hudson-Odoi taking to his social media on Monday night, Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola gave a negative take on the 18-year-olds injury.
“It’s not an easy one. I think it is a serious injury. It’s on his Achilles tendon. I cannot tell you the full extent of it,”
“I am not sure about it. I think they will have to have an examination, but it is not looking good.”
Along with Sarri being unable to call upon his attacking starlet for the remainder of the season, it appears that England boss Gareth Southgate will also be handed a blow before the Three Lions’ Nations League semi-final this summer.
Making his full international debut during England’s EURO 2020 qualifying campaign back in March, Hudson-Odoi was heavily tipped to have featured in their showdown with Holland on June 6th.
With Chelsea at the heart of a real battle to secure Champions League football for next season, how much of a miss will Hudson-Odoi be for both club and country?
