Los Angeles FC vs Atlanta United Preview

Bob Bradley’s LAFC slipped up in El Trafico last weekend despite playing reasonably well. Zlatan’s hat-trick proved too much for the Western Conference leaders, but they should be able to bounce back here. It was a minor blip for them, and they will be pleased to get back to the Banc of California Stadium. They’ve won eight of nine games in front of their own fans, with only Chicago Fire stopping them from scoring so far. They’ve won seven of ten overall, and they will be keen to get revenge on Atlanta United, who beat them 5-0 at the Mercedes Benz Stadium last season. LAFC will once again be relying upon the goals of Carlos Vela, who has struck 21 times so far this campaign and although he is ably supported by Diego Rossi and Adama Diomande, he is the main man in this side.

Atlanta United got off to a slow start under Frank de Boer, but they have started to climb the standings now. They still have a problem playing outside of Georgia, and they have lost each of their last five fixtures on the road. They played twice last week, and won 7-0 on aggregate. It could have been more had Josef Martinez not wasted his opportunity from the spot, although his error proved to purely academic in the end. The Venezuelan striker hasn’t been quite as prolific this time around, but he has notched 16 times so far. Atlanta have struggled on the road this campaign, and this is one of the toughest places to visit. Their inconsistent form looks set to continue on Friday night/Saturday morning.

Los Angeles FC vs Atlanta United Betting Tips

Neither of these two sides draw particularly often, and they’ve had just one stalemate in twenty collective matches. Atlanta’s away form is a huge concern. They sit second in the Eastern Conference, but they fall to ninth if you isolate their road form. Only three sides have poorer form on their travels, with a 3-7 record away from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. They’ve scored 11 goals in ten games, with five of those coming in their last four outings.

LAFC will be expected to win this game, and they are odds-on to defeat Atlanta. I would recommend Los Angeles to Win and Over 1.5 Match Goals at 13/20 if you don’t mind a short-ish price, however it’s 8/5 for the hosts to be victorious with both sides finding the back of the net. LAFC Win and Both Teams to Score is the first of our betting tips for this MLS fixture. It would have landed in 6/9 games at the Banc of California Stadium, and has paid out in each of Atlanta’s last four away games.

Carlos Vela is a man with 21 goals to his name, and he is in red hot form. He comes into this game on a decent streak, and will be the focal point of LAFC’s forward play. He’s 1/2 to score anytime, which could potentially be doubled up, however we’re going for Carlos Vela to Score 2 or More at 2/1 with Bet365. He’s scored multiple goals on five occasions this season, including in each of LAFC’s last two MLS matches.
