Crystal Palace vs Everton Preview

Arsenal initiated bids for Wilfried Zaha earlier this summer, with the Ivorian said to be keen to leave. After failing to come to an agreement, Everton hijacked the move and the saga has rumbled on until the start of the season. The outcome will no doubt add an extra edge to this encounter.

Crystal Palace have endured a difficult summer, losing Young Player of the Year, Aaron-Wan Bissaka, and looking short up front after the return of Michy Batshuayi to parent club, Chelsea. The Eagles got off to a poor start last season, with their only two wins before December coming against now-relegated sides. With all the unsettlement surrounding the club, a similar fate could await them this season.

Meanwhile, Everton have had an exceptional transfer window. André Gomes has returned permanently; the acquisition of Fabian Delph looks an astute one and Italian wonderkid Moise Kean arrives from Juventus with big expectations. The loss of Idrissa Gueye and failure to resign Kurt Zouma, may hurt Everton’s defensive solidity, but they look well placed to cover those losses.

Crystal Palace vs Everton Betting Tips

Everton ended last season in fine form, going undefeated in seven of their final eight games. Eight clean sheets in their final 11 matches demonstrated a newfound defensive reliance. Palace’s overreliance on Zaha could cost them and we back the Toffee to win to nil at 11/4.

Crystal Palace kept the sixth most clean sheets last season but the loss off Aaron Wan-Bissaka along with side injuries to James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho, leave them vulnerable. Gary Cahill should slot into the back four but has not played a lot of competitive football in the last year.

Everton have taken the lead in the first half of six of their last seven league wins. In other words, if the Toffees are going to win, they usually score early. Backing Everton/Everton in the half time/full-time market looks a solid bet at 3/1.
