Crvena Zvezda vs FK Suduva Preview

Reigning Serbian champions Crvena Zvezda, more commonly known as Red Star Belgrade, got a respectable 0-0 draw away from home in the 1st leg of this qualification tie with FK Suduva and will be looking for a win to take them to the next round.

With 30 league wins and 24 national cup wins, they are the most successful Serbian team and also the only Serbian team to ever win the European Cup, doing so in 1991. More recently, they defeated eventual champions Liverpool 2-0 and drew with Napoli 0-0, both at home in last year’s completion showing the threat they have, especially in front of their partisan fans.

Last year’s Lithuanian champions and current leader, FK Suduva will be disappointed that they couldn’t get a win at home in the 1st leg, but will take solace from the fact that they did not concede any away goals. They have never made it into the group stages of a European completion and were defeated by Red Star both home and away in last year’s Champions League qualification 2nd round.  They will be looking for revenge and an early away goal could be exactly what they need to win the tie.
