Inter Milan vs Lazio Preview: Antonio Conte’s men to make to continue their winning run

Inter Milan betting tips

It’s been a terrific start to life at the San Siro for Antonio Conte. The former Chelsea boss has guided his side to four wins from four, and he’ll be desperate to continue that record on Wednesday night.

An inconsistent Lazio side will be looking to halt Inter’s momentum, and they’ll be keen to continue their excellent record against the Nerrazzuri.

Inter Milan vs Lazio Preview – 25/09/19: Serie A

Despite a brief blip in the Champions League in which they could only draw with Slavia Prague, Inter have made a terrific start to the campaign. They’ve laid down their credentials as Scudetto contenders with four consecutive victories to kick off the campaign.

Impressively, Inter have managed to keep three clean sheets so far this season, and their 2-0 success in the Milan derby was yet further evidence of Conte’s impact. Previous Inter sides may have conceded a second half goal thus setting up a nervy finish, however this XI rarely looked troubled.

Romelu Lukaku has impressed since joining from Manchester United whilst Stefano Sensi has also made a good start. Conte may be tempted to rotate here, and Lautaro Martinez may be one of those sacrificed. Some Inter fans will be hoping that Cristiano Biraghi will make his debut in this tie.

Lazio have been thoroughly inconsistent so far this season although they do come off the back of a win against Parma at the weekend. Simone Inzaghi’s men haven’t won two consecutive matches in any competition since March, and they have become one of the more unpredictable sides in the division.

You can usually rely on them for goals however, and they should play their part in an entertaining spectacle.

Can Inter end Lazio’s superb recent record in this fixture?

The Biancocelesti do have a terrific recent record against Inter, and will be looking to continue that here. They were victorious here in March (1-0) and haven’t lost to these opponents since December 2016.

There was also the tempestuous Coppa Italia match last season in which a last minute penalty was awarded. Lazio prevailed in the shootout and went on to lift the trophy.

However, on current form, it’s difficult to see that run continuing. Inter are yet to concede a first half goal, and Lazio have conceded three of their five goals in the second half. Simone Inzaghi’s side have fitness issues, whilst Conte’s men are likely to be well-drilled.

Will Ciro Immobile feature?

The prolific striker was visibly upset after being subbed against Parma at the weekend. He made his frustrations clear on the touchline in full view of the fans. It wasn’t the wisest the thing to do and his participation in potentially in doubt for this one.

However, Lazio really do need to start picking up points, and without Immobile they can look fairly toothless.

He hasn’t got the best record against Inter, and has never found the net in six matches against them in Serie A. However, he did net in the aforementioned Coppa Italia contest.

Inter to march on

It really is difficult to look the hosts for this one. Inter have looked superbly well-organised under Antonio Conte, and Lazio have just not looked the same this season.

They don’t have a great recent record against this opponent, but head-to-heads always play second fiddle to current form. That could be factored into the price. Evens looks good value on the hosts.
