Oxford vs Peterborough Preview

Oxford weren’t expected to leave the Stadium of Light with anything, yet Karl Robinson’s side departed the north east with a point. The yellows were competitive throughout, and although Sunderland had the best chances of the game, they proved that they can match any side in the division. They haven’t always enjoyed home comforts over the last couple of campaign, and there are many reasons for that, although they have won four of their last six matches here. They ended the season strongly, and they are unbeaten since February 16th. They’ve only lost once at home in 2019, although it was todays opponents who inflicted that defeat upon them. Fans will be delighted to see Tarique Fosu get off the mark at the first time of asking, and he seems to thrive under the tutelage of Karl Robinson. Ben Woodburn is a good signing, whilst defender Rob Dickie continues to impress at the back. They’ve only won one of their last five opening home matches, and although that is a disappointing stat, they will fancy their chances of beating a wounded Posh outfit.

Peterborough commanded almost 75% possession in their defeat to Fleetwood last week, but somehow Darren Ferguson’s men couldn’t turn that dominance into goals. Ivan Toney did manage to open his account for the campaign, but they missed a number of opportunities throughout the game, and they will hope to be more clinical this time around. They do have a good record against Oxford, and their away record was impressive with 11 victories from 23 outings. Despite that opening day defeat, there is still plenty of optimism surrounding the club and their chances this season. They have plenty of firepower, and did rate higher than the Cod Army on the XG scale seven days ago. Posh haven’t suffered back-to-back defeats at the start of the season for six years, and they’ll be hoping to avoid that fate at the Kassam.

Oxford vs Peterborough Betting Tips

Peterborough are going to be involved in some high-scoring games this season, and under Ferguson, they will always prioritise attack over defence. Their back-line looked a bit suspect against Fleetwood, and they come under plenty of pressure once again here. They have plenty of creativity in the final third, with Mo Eisa hoping to get off the mark for the campaign. Posh should find the back of the net at least once here, and don’t be surprised if this is one of the most entertaining games of the weekend in League One. Over 2.5 Goals is shortening all of the time, but it’s 5/6 with Bet Victor and that looks a decent starting point.

Ivan Toney was subject to some late bids on deadline day with Posh turning down a £4m offer for the striker. He is off the mark for the campaign, and always looks dangerous. He is 21/10 to find the back of the net in this game, and looks the best value in the anytime goalscorer market.
