Peterborough vs Ipswich Preview

Despite being one of the favourites for promotion this season, it’s been an underwhelming start for Posh. Darren Ferguson’s men commanded over 70% possession against Fleetwood on opening weekend, but couldn’t make it count, losing 3-1. Since then, they’ve played Oxford twice (in League and Cup), and lost 1-0 on both occasions. The fact that a team with such incredible firepower has only scored once in 270 minutes of football is concerning, and it’s something they need to put right here. Posh have Ivan Toney and Mo Eisa up front, although the latter has shown little so far. There’s plenty of creativity in their ranks, but it isn’t quite clicking, and they face tough opposition on Saturday. Ferguson has urged everyone to keep the faith, although they are likely to be without the impressive Serhat Tasdemir for this game, after he went off injured in midweek. The boss bemoaned his side’s lack of clear-cut chances, and they must find a way of breaking down an Ipswich defence that has conceded just a single goal in two matches.

Fans were understandably concerned by Ipswich’s lack of spending power this summer, but they don’t appear to have been affected by the lack of investment. Paul Lambert’s side beat Burton 1-0 in their season opener, although were perhaps helped by the Brewers having an off-day in the final third. They followed it up with a competitive 1-1 with Sunderland, and they’ll be hoping to remain unbeaten in this tie. Although James Norwood hasn’t found the net yet, he’s been industrious, and looked lively during his opening couple of appearances. The boss made ten changes in midweek for their EFL Cup loss to Luton, and he gave three players their debut. It’s hard to read too much into their loss at Kennilworth Road. The Tractor Boys have been linked with Colchester’s Kane Vincent Young this week, and he would be an excellent acquisition, although he’s unlikely to sign in time for this tie. Both of their goals have been scored by summer signing Luke Garbutt.

Peterborough vs Ipswich Betting Tips

There’s something not quite right at Posh, and it’s hard to trust them as the favourites here. They aren’t creating the high volume of chances that we saw them produce last season, and the Ipswich defence should find it easy enough to deal with them. Lambert’s men haven’t hit top gear yet, but they’ve looked comfortable enough, and they will work hard, and make themselves difficult to break down. The Suffolk side should be able to get something from this game, and are a decent price on the Draw No Bet market.

Ipswich games in League One haven’t been high-scoring affairs so far, but they’ve been quietly impressive so far. Posh did net in their opening home match, and they have the quality in their XI to potentially get on the score-sheet. 2-3 Goals looks like the best way to approach this game.
