Fantasy Football Gameweek 3 Tips – Players to Consider
Gameweek 2 saw a significant drop off in average points but there is no need to panic. Here’s our look ahead to Gameweek 3’s potential stars. This week we are looking through some of the top 6 teams and picking out potential transfers in this gameweek.
Tottenham
We kick things off with Spurs, who host Newcastle on Sunday. This is shaping up to be a very profitable encounter for Tottenham’s FPL assets after Newcastle poor start. Harry Kane (11m) is the obvious choice and an excellent captaincy option this week. He scored a late brace on the opening day and will surely fire more shots than he managed against Manchester City (1). Tottenham’s midfield boasts a range of mid-priced options. Tanguy Ndombele (6.1m), Erik Lamela (6.0m) and Lucas Moura (7.5m) have all scored one and assisted one, but with fierce competition for places, only Ndombele offers assured starts. Heung-Min Son (9.5m) is an under-the-radar choice, returning from suspension for this game. The South Korean may be overlooked by many due to his absence so far but could be an excellent choice if you’re prepared to take the risk.
Manchester City
As always, Manchester City offers a lot of FPL potential this week. This week, City play Bournemouth who have failed to keep a clean sheet against Sheffield United or Aston Villa. Raheem Sterling (12.1m) is joint top goalscorer and is safe captaincy choice. Sergio Aguero (12m) started and scored last time out but Gabriel Jesus (9.5m) remains a threat to his game time, especially after an altercation with manager Pep Guardiola following the Argentine’s substitution. Kevin de Bruyne (9.6m) assisted both goals against Tottenham, has been pivotal to City’s attacks and is certainly worthy of investment.
Manchester United
The Red half of Manchester welcome an out of sorts Crystal Palace to Old Trafford. Palace’s attack has looked blunt and uninspired and are unlikely to score against United. Aaron Wan-Bissaka (5.5m), Harry Maguire (5.5m), Luke Shaw (5.5m), Victor Lindelof (5.5m) all offer a 5.5m route into the United defence. Not a lot separates these four, but Luke Shaw is most likely to secure attacking points.

Liverpool and Arsenal
Liverpool haven’t reached the defensive heights of last season but Andy Robertson (7.0m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (7.0m) could have some joy down the flanks with Arsenal’s first choice fullbacks still side-lined. Arsenal were unable to keep out Burnley last week and the likes of Mo Salah (12.5m) and Sadio Mané (11.5m) could be outside contenders for the armband this week. Dani Cabellos (5.6m) was Arsenal’s Man of the Match against Burnley, teeing up Alexander Lacazette (9.5m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11.0m) and looks under-priced.
Norwich and Chelsea
Teemu Pukki (6.7m) bagged a hat-trick to top the FPL points chart for Gameweek 2. He faces a Chelsea side yet to keep a clean sheet and could be set to add more points to his tally. Todd Cantwell (4.5m) grabbed two assists from advanced positions and has emerged as a great cheap midfield option. Mason Mount’s (6.0m) goal further strengthens his security in the starting XI and at 6.0m is possibly Chelsea’s best asset heading into Gameweek 3.
Ones to Watch for Gameweek 3 Honourable Mentions:
Brighton – Martin Montoya (4.5m), Leandro Trossard (6.0m)
Everton – Lucas Digne (6.0m), Seamus Coleman (5.5m), Gylfi Sigursdsson (8.0m), Richarlison (8.0m)
Leicester – Ricardo Perreira (6.0m), James Maddison (7.0m), Ayoze Perez (6.5m), Jamie Vardy (9.0m)
West Ham – Manuel Lanzini (6.5m)
