Fantasy Premier League Captain Tips for Gameweek 8 – Who should get the armband?

Fantasy Football tips

Who should be your Premier League Fantasy Football captain in gameweek 8? This week’s captain picks feature none of Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero or Mo Salah, highlighting the wealth of consistent options available right now.

Last weekend there were good points from a few midfield options with Raheem Sterling getting on the scoresheet and Kevin De Bryune getting two assists at Everton. Jamie Vardy was a good captain choice if you had him last weekend, picking up 12 points in the home rout against Newcastle United.

Liverpool are at home to Leicester this weekend but there are easier looking home ties for both Manchester City (Wolves) and Arsenal (Bournemouth), so it may be that your captain pick should come from one of those two games.

Captain Option 1 – Kevin de Bruyne (10.0m) vs Wolves

The current top point scorer in the game, Kevin de Bruyne has often been overlooked for captaincy. Staggeringly, the Belgian has recorded at least one assist in every game he has started. After six starts, de Bruyne has two goals and nine(!) assists. He faces a Wolves side who have struggled at times this season and conceded five times to Chelsea.

Captain Option 2 – Heung-Min Son (9.7m) vs Brighton

The South Korean forward he registered a goal or an assist in each game since his return against Newcastle. Son has two goals and three assists from the last four showing impressive consistency. He has outscored the more expensive Harry Kane over this period by 31 to 27. Tottenham travel to Brighton this week come off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea. Son should have plenty of opportunities to add to his impressive tally but the form of Spurs is a slight concern heading into this one, especially after the performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week.

Captain Option 3 – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11m) vs Bournemouth

Aubameyang has bailed Arsenal out of most games this season. Without his goals, Arsenal would be nine points worse off and nineteenth in the league. The Gabon international has seven goals in seven games and has scored or assisted in each of them. Bournemouth haven’t got the best defensive record and despite Arsenal’s ongoing issues, Aubameyang should rise above to notch once again. He has the added bonus of penalty duties should the opportunity arise.

Recommended FPL Captain for Gameweek 8

We can’t look past Kevin De Bruyne when he’s in this sort of form. He is key to everything City do and has been too consistent to ignore in recent weeks. The only concern with this pick is that he didn’t play in the Champions League in midweek because of a knock, so keep a close eye on Pep’s press conference for any updates on the Belgian.

If De Bruyne turns out to not be fit, then Aubameyang is the best replacement for him given his record so far this season and the home tie with Bournemouth.
