Barnsley vs Huddersfield predictions and betting tips for tonight’s Championship fixture at Oakwell. See what out tipster is betting on for this Friday night fixture.

Barnsley’s defeat to Huddersfield last weekend left the Tykes anchored to the foot of the Championship table and they will be looking to bounce back in front of the TV cameras on Friday night when they take on Bristol City. Can they make it three games unbeaten at Oakwell?

Barnsley vs Bristol City Preview – 01/11/2019 Championship

Barnsley are still hunting for a new manager following the departure of Daniel Stendel. They are yet to find a replacement for the popular German boss although the likes of Ian Burchnall and DC United’s Ben Olsen have been linked with the vacancy. Although they haven’t collected three points since the opening weekend of the campaign, Barnsley have improved under Adam Murray and have held Swansea and Derby to draws during their last couple of matches here.

Cauley Woodrow’s double helped them secure an unlikely point at the Hawthorns as well a couple of weeks ago and they are showing a little more adventure going forward at the moment. Unfortunately, their inability to keep clean sheets and their penchant for a defensive howler have left them marooned at the bottom of the table.

Bristol City continue to be a little inconsistent this season and dropped yet more points at Ashton Gate on Sunday afternoon. They twice conceded to Wigan, with defender Chey Dunkley popping up to fire past the Robin’s porous defence. Lee Johnson’s side have only been defeated on two occasions this season and are incredibly tough to beat, but it’s now just one clean sheet in their last six games.

They have been stronger on the road with a 3-3-1 record so far and they will fancy their chances of leaving South Yorkshire with something to show for their efforts.

Adam Nagy’s Timely Return Could Help Bristol City

Bristol City fans were understandably excited about the signing of Adam Nagy this summer and the Hungarian midfielder made a decent start to life at Ashton Gate. However, he’s been out injured since mid-August after suffering an ankle injury on International Duty.

Nagy has played is an incredibly tidy midfielder who is likely to keep things ticking nicely in the centre of the park. He’s played just 136 minutes so far, scored one goal and completed a pass percentage rate of 94%.

Lee Johnson confirmed that Nagy is close to a return and could be fit for this game on Friday night. If he is able to compete, he could have a real impact in the centre of the park. It would be a huge boost for the visitors.

Woodrow Offers Barnsley Best Route to Goal

Barnsley have generally been much better at home in recent weeks, with Alex Mowatt and Cauley Woodrow both playing a significant role. The latter has netted three of his five goals at Oakwell this season and is averaging around over four shots per game in front of his own fans.

He isn’t afraid to have a go from distance and will probably have a number of efforts in this contest. He’s also pretty handy in the air and if a chance presents itself, he is likely to take it.

Woodrow is the second favourite in the anytime goalscorer market and at 15/8 with Paddy Power, he is worth backing here.

Points Shared

Barnsley have become tougher to beat at Oakwell and I think it’s worth backing them to get something from this contest. Bristol City are a little inconsistent and hard to predict, but they don’t lose many games on the road. The draw is the most likely outcome here and is 12/5.
