Brentford vs Stoke Betting Tips

It’s been a miserable start to the campaign for Stoke, and it doesn’t look to be getting any easier with a tough trip to the capital pencilled in for this weekend. The Potters have failed to win any of their last 23 trips to London, and that barren run looks set to continue here. Nathan Jones’ side have improved, and the fans were buoyed by a much better performance against Bristol City seven days ago. Some supporters have directed their ire towards Joe Allen, and with the experienced midfielder banned for this tie, they will get the chance to a starting XI without the Welshman for the first time this campaign.

Not only have they struggled in south east England in recent years, they’ve also lost their last three trips to this ground, including a 3-1 loss here last season. That was one of Nathan Jones’ first games in charge, and the Potters have barely won a match since that defeat.

There have been some recent positives with Sam Clucas’ form improving whilst Badou N’Diaye caught the eye last week in the centre of the park. Stoke need some luck, and they will be probably require some good fortune in order to come away with the points here.

Brentford were defeated at Preston last weekend although the Bees did have their chances in the game. The Lilywhites’ superb defence prevented Thomas Frank’s men from getting on the score-sheet, but they are likely to face an easier test this weekend. The hosts hit three during their last home match, and have only conceded twice at Griffin Park in 270 minutes.

The home side have the second worst conversion rate in the league (just 5%) and that has to change at some point. They are creating chances, and with Said Benrahma in the side, there are always going to be opportunities carved out.

It’s an interesting tie between two sides who are undoubtedly underperforming, and haven’t had the rub of the green. With the home advantage and their recent success against Derby, Brentford should edge this at 17/20 with William Hill.

Ollie Watkins remains at the club despite constant speculation linking the former Exeter man with a move away. He is playing a more central role this campaign, and although some of his finishing can be wayward, he’s shown enough over the last couple of months to suggest he’ll have a productive campaign. He’s scored four times so far this season, with three of those goals coming at Griffin Park. He’s 29/20 with Betfred to score anytime in this one.
