Leeds vs Derby County Betting Tips

Despite their lofty position, it’s been Leeds’ home form that has prevented them from pulling clear at the top the table. The Whites put in an accomplished display at Oakwell last weekend which helped continue their perfect form on the road (four wins from four). Barnsley had their chances, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side were clinical in the final twenty minutes.

Leeds’ form at Elland has seen them take just four points from a possible nine, with Brentford the only side to leave West Yorkshire with nothing to show for it. In fairness to Bielsa’s men, Lewis Grabban’s equaliser for Nottingham Forest was completely against the run-of-play whilst Wayne Routledge’s last minute scuff was also unfair on the hosts.

The Whites need to be more clinical in this game, and they can’t afford to be wasteful. They’ve learnt their lessons in recent outings, and they must ensure that they don’t drop any more home points.

It’s been a poor start to the campaign for Phillip Cocu. The Dutchman has struggled to get a tune out his Derby side, and the Rams are without a win since the opening weekend of the season. Without Mason Mount and Harry Wilson, there is less creativity, and Tom Lawrence has struggled to influence games in recent weeks. Cocu used both Jack Marriott and Martyn Waghorn against Cardiff last weekend, yet neither striker got on the score-sheet. Derby have scored just seven times this season, although four of those goals have arrived away from Pride Park.

Leeds have conceded just once in their last five matches, and that came in the last minute. Derby are struggling for goals, and they could find it difficult to break through in this game.

Only one of Leeds’ games have featured four or more goals so far, and with the Whites controlling matters, I’d expect a fairly comfortable day at the office for Bielsa’s men. Leeds Win and Under 3.5 Goals is available at 5/4 with Coral, and looks a decent pick in this one.

Leeds vs Derby Anytime Goalscorer Prediction

Patrick Bamford is the favourite in the anytime goalscorer market, however, each of his goals have come on the road so far. Eddie Nketiah hasn’t been unleashed from the start yet, and he may have to settle for a place on the bench once again, However, despite limited minutes, he’s already scored four times in all competitions, and may be amongst the goals once again. He’s the second favourite at 5/4 with Betfair, and is our betting tip for this lunchtime kick-off.
