Before the break, Sevilla had gone six matches unbeaten in all competitions including four La Liga games. In that run they won two and drew two and all four games were high scoring affairs. Wins came against Getafe (3-0) and Osasuna (3-2), whilst there were 2-2 draws against both Espanyol and Atletico Madrid. That draw with Atletico could be key come the end of the season as both sides are still battling for Champions League places.

Luuk de Jong scored early to give Sevilla the advantage but they were pegged back by two quick goals by Madrid. Lucas Ocampos drew Sevilla level a couple of minutes before half-time and neither team could find a winner in the second half.
