Liverpool vs Chelsea Betting Tips

Liverpool kicked off their season with an emphatic win over Norwich at Anfield. Norwich threatened in attack on a number of occasions as Liverpool’s defence looked more open than we’re used to seeing. The Canaries could have scored more than their solitary goal, but nevertheless, Liverpool dominated the match. Four first-half goals ended the contest, as the Reds took their foot off the gas in the latter stages of the game. Mo Salah looked sharp and perhaps should have notched more than his single goal. Sadio Mané made an appearance in the second half and should be ready to start against Chelsea.

Chelsea have entered a period of transition under Frank Lampard and this was very much evident against Manchester United at the weekend. The Blues started strongly and had the better of the opening exchanges. Tammy Abraham struck the woodwork before United won a penalty against the run of play. The tides appeared to change after this, despite another effort off the woodwork for the Blues. Chelsea were opened up on the counterattack multiple times, leading to their 4-0 loss.

The Blues will have to tighten up in defence if they’re to have any chance if fending off a full-strength Liverpool attack. The Reds are deadly on the counterattack and Chelsea cannot afford to play such a high line with little cover once again. Expect the Blues to drop back deeper and play a less expansive style of football in this one.

Liverpool will come into this encounter as heavy favourites. Betting against this attack scoring would be very brave and we can’t see it. The Reds will score even if we see a more conservative tactical approach from Chelsea. The London club can consider themselves unlucky not to have scored at the weekend and we fancy them to notch against a Liverpool defence which did not look up to full speed.
