Liverpool overcame their 2017/18 Champions League final defeat by building on the positives and winning the competition last season by defeating Tottenham in an all English final. Yet despite all the positives, the one thing they could not get was the elusive League title.

Ndombele has left for Tottenham, Mendy has left for Real Madrid and Fekir has left for Real Betis among other transfers. They have already begun to replace these players by signing Thiago Mendes, Youssouf Kone and Joachim Andersen.

Liverpool began their friendlies with wins over Tranmere and Bradford. However since then they have lost 3-2 to Dortmund, 2-1 to Sevilla, drawn 2-2 against Sporting Lisbon before losing to Napoli 3-0. Lyon too haven’t had great results in their friendlies, losing to Servette and Genoa before defeating Arsenal 2-1.

Both teams have good attacks and score goals, therefore we predict both teams to get on the scoresheet. However we believe Liverpool will take the game 3-1.
