In our ante-post Championship betting tips, Stoke were one of the sides we fancied for promotion this season, they’re currently 4/1 with Ladbrokes to get back to the Premier League. The Potters have had a decent pre-season campaign – after drawing against MSV Duisburg they went on to beat Wrexham, Tranmere Rovers and Lincoln City before losing 2-1 against Leicester at the weekend.

QPR have lost three of their four pre-season friendlies this summer and were beaten 1-0 by Premier League side Watford last time out. It hasn’t been a great preparation for the new season and they’ve lost some important players from the 2018/19 season. After finishing in 19th place last season, it would be no surprise to see QPR involved in a relegation battle come next year.

Given the summers of both sides and the strength of Stoke on paper, it looks like this should be an easy home victory on Saturday. Sam Vokes has joined from Burnley and he should be prolific at this level but they will need to improve on last season’s lowly finish.
