Valencia vs Arsenal predictions and betting tips for the Europa League fixture on Thursday 9th May. In the second leg of the semi-final, both sides are just one game away from a major European final.
Even though the end of Arsenal’s season in the Premier league has been a poor one, they can be proud of their showings in the Europa League this season. They made it to the semi-final last season where they were knocked out by Atletico Madrid, but Unai Emery is hoping to take this side a couple steps further and potentially win the whole thing.
They come up against a very talented Valencia side who come off the back of a crushing 6-2 win against Huesca at the weekend. Unlike their opponents, Valencia still stand within a chance of finishing within the top four in their league and also have a Copa del Rey final to look forward to at the end of the season against Barcelona. This could end up being a very good season for Los Ches Els Taronges, but they will need a win here. As we saw, there were a fair amount of goals in the first leg. With the attacking ability of both sides, it is very possible that we will see this again. My first betting tip is for there to be over 2.5 goals which you can get at 8/13 with William Hill.
The first leg at the Emirates was an entertaining competitive match in which Valencia took the lead early on. That was quickly wiped out by Lacazette’s goal seven minutes later. Valencia however will take great encouragement over the fact they do have an away goal to bring back home. If they manage to stop Arsenal scoring in this game, they will fancy their chances to score a couple times and go through.
Last week we predicted that Lacazette would score. I am doing the same again here as I believe the Frenchman will bag another goal in the away leg. The best odds for Lacazette to score in Valencia are 21/10 with Ladbrokes.
Everyone is well aware of the poor form that Arsenal currently find themselves in. The Europa League is now the only chance they have of finishing the season with something to be proud of. After drawing 1-1 with Brighton at the weekend, their top four chances are effectively over.
As we mentioned earlier, Valencia are also just outside the top four, therefore making this competition their main focus. I do however feel that Arsenal will bounce back and have too much for Valencia to qualify. I am predicting a 2-2 draw which you can get at 12/1 with Bet Victor.
We’ve got a 2019 Europa League final prediction already up on the site, can the Gunners win the tournament after hammering six past Valencia in the semi-finals?
Valencia to win – 20/23
