Newcastle vs Burnley Preview

Both of these sides had real relegation worries a few weeks ago but a run of good results have given both Newcastle and Burnley some breathing space as we enter the last quarter of the season. Newcastle are now four points above the dropzone and Burnley are six points clear. There is still a chance one of the sides could get dragged back in but it is hard to see it happening.

Newcastle will have looked at the weekend’s match with Huddersfield and this one against Burnley as an opportunity for a minimum of four points and we’re predicting that is exactly what they will end up with. The 2-0 win against Huddersfield was expected and means they’ve picked up 10 points from a possible 15 in recent weeks.

Burnley are also in good form – unbeaten in eight with five wins. Away from home they have drawn two of their last three matches and we’re expecting them to pick up another valuable point at St. James’ Park tonight.

Anytime Goalscorer Prediction

Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon took his Premier League goals tally to seven when he opened the scoring against Huddersfield at the weekend and he’s not scored in Newcastle’s last two home matches. Another man in good form in front of goal is Burnley striker Chris Wood, who has really found his feet in this Burnley side now and has got himself four goals in his last four matches.

The New Zealand striker is a much better price in the anytime goalscorer odds than Rondon tonight and given his recent form, he’s the selection for our Newcastle vs Burnley predictions tonight.

Correct Score Prediction

We’re predicting the draw for our betting tips on this match so we need a correct score to reflect this. Both sides will see this as a chance to get themselves even further from the relegation zone but they’ll also be aware that avoiding defeat is probably most important. We could have a cagey affair here with neither side wanting to lose, and ultimately a 1-1 draw looks a good bet for tonight’s game.

The 1-1 correct score is the favourite in the odds for this match and that is understandable, but at odds of 5/1 it is still a great bet and prefect way to activate the Paddy Power £5 free bets on every Wednesday fixture offer.
