Luton to beat Birmingham

Luton are good enough to beat any Championship outfit on their day at Kenilworth Road as proved by their qualification into the play-offs last season, and they’ll be aiming to do the same again in a bid to reach the promised land. They start their campaign against an out-of-sorts Birmingham City side, who quite frankly are in another world to Luton – aiming to survive the drop for yet another season. With their new ownership still unknown, a dark cloud has loomed over the blue half of England’s second city and the club, whilst in turmoil, will do well to pick up points away from home. At just under evens, Luton seem a sure fire bet to get your accumulator off to a flying start.

Rangers to beat Livingston

Rangers and Celtic will obviously be going into the new season at warheads whilst they battle for yet another Scottish Premiership title, and both of Glasgow’s biggest sides will want to avoid dropping unnecessary points away at some of the league’s smaller sides in a bid to start the season in the correct fashion. The Gers’ last loss at the Tony Macaroni Arena came in 2018, although they have produced stronger showings in West Lothian as their consolidation back in the top-flight has gone on. At 3/7, they represent a superb price.

Derby to beat Oxford

Derby’s fans will go into the new campaign with an optimistic mindset with the calibre of player they have brought into the club. James Collins, Conor Hourihane and David McGoldrick are three extremely strong signings that will cause havoc amongst the back lines of League One’s weaker defences, and at 5/4, Oxford could find a buoyant Pride Park crowd hard to contend with as they aim to a swift return to the second tier.

Ipswich to beat Bolton

Ipswich are another side who signed well last season, although they flattered to deceive after a nightmare spell under Paul Cook left them 13th heading into December. Under the guidance of Kieran McKenna, the Tractor Boys were led to within just 10 points of the play-offs and just four losses in the new campaign. And with a full pre-season behind him, the former Manchester United coaches’ men are a good option at 1/1 odds.

Middlesbrough to beat West Brom

Middlesbrough are my personal favourite to win the Championship, although they come up against tough opponents in West Brom. The Riversiders have signed well, and are to set receive £27million in fees for Djed Spence and Marcus Tavernier. With Zack Steffen and Darragh Lenihan coming in to steady the ship at the back with Marcus Forss in attack, Chris Wilder’s men mean business this season. They round off the accumulator at 5/4.
