It’s been a bad few weeks for the Black and Yellows and they’ll need a miracle here if things are to get better any time soon. Lucien Favre’s side have surrendered a five point lead at the top of the Bundesliga and their Champions League hopes now look incredibly slim ahead of Tuesday night’s showdown. A surprise 2-1 defeat at the hands of Augsburg is certainly not the kind of preparation the German heavyweights would have been hoping for before Tottenham’s visit, but it’s fair to say the Londoners are also going through a bit of a sticky patch at the moment.

Dortmund have no real choice but to attack here and I think they’ll win on the night, but I can’t see that being enough. The Spaniard notched Dortmund’s consolation in their defeat on Friday night and has undoubtedly proved a number of critics wrong over the past 18 months. Alcacer missed the first leg in England due to injury but is almost certain to start on Tuesday night given that goals are very much required.

He’s 8/5 to register at some stage here and could blow the tie wide open if that crucial early goal can be found.

Dortmund v Tottenham Prediction for a Correct Score

The intriguing thing about this match-up is that neither side are firing on all cylinders at the time of writing. Had Hugo Lloris not saved a late penalty in the derby draw with Arsenal on Saturday, Spurs would have been going into this one off the back of three successive defeats. Dortmund have only managed to win one of their three domestic matches since their visit to London, so it’s very difficult to make any assertions based on form.

A lot will be gauged from the opening 20 minutes, which you’d expect Tottenham to approach with caution, although an early goal for the home side could really open things up.
