Barcelona vs Inter Milan Predictions

I think Barcelona will come out on top in this semi-final first leg at home. The Catalan giants have had a great season, four points clear at the top of La Liga and won the Copa Del Ray at the weekend, with a 3-2 victory in the El Clásico against Real Madrid. They defeated Borussia Dortmund 5-3 over two legs in the quarter-final to reach this stage of the competition. Inter come into this one having taken one step back in their race to become Serie A champions, following a 0-1 defeat to Roma on Sunday evening. They haven’t won in their last four, and I think Barca will have too much for them here.

That said, I do think both teams will score. Barca have conceded five goals in their last three, despite winning them all. In those three, they have managed eight goals, racking up 23 goals in their last 10 in all competitions. They have also scored a remarkable 89 league goals this season, over 30 more than Real Madrid, who are the second highest scorers. Inter are also the highest scorers in their league despite being second, racking up 72 goals in 34 league matches. I think both teams to score is a good bet here.

Lamine Yamal has had a fine season for Barca, and I’m backing the youngster to have one or more shots on target here. He has 12 goals to his name in all competitions this season, with six in La Liga, four in the Champions League, and two in the Supercopa De Espana. He has 31 shots on target in his 30 La Liga appearances this season, and I think he will have plenty of opportunities for a shot on target here.

Denzel Dumfries is the man we’re backing for a booking here. The Dutchman has picked up eight bookings in all competitions this season, two of them coming in his nine Champions League appearances. He has collected four in Serie A, one in the Coppa Italia and one in the Supercopa Italiana. He has averaged just under two fouls per game in all competitions, and with Barca’s attacking prowess, I expect he will make at least a couple here. He’s great odds to be carded.
