Championship betting tips

Saturday’s Championship fixtures throw up some more exciting games and as well as picking our predictions for five of the matches, you can add our mega-accumulator straight to your betslip to win £2500 from a £10 bet.

Reading are the surprise pacesetters at the top of the Championship table but they were beaten in midweek and last Friday night against Coventry. At the other end, it has been a poor start for Sheffield Wednesday but they are predicted to win against Millwall this weekend after picking up a surprise win against Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

Elsewhere, Watford host Coventry where we’ve got a 3/1 betting tip and Nottingham Forest play Wycombe. You can see our top 5 Championship predictions for this weekend below.

Watford v Coventry

Thatsagioal prediction: Watford to Win and BTTS

After 3 games without a win Watford finally got back on track with a 3-2 home win over Stoke in midweek, they will now look to kick on and put together a string of wins. Coventry are still trying to go toe to toe with teams in the Championship and it’s proving costly, they have conceded the most goals in the Championship (20) and are heading into this game off a 2-1 defeat to Nottingham forest. Expect Watford to be far too strong for Coventry, also expect Coventry to nick at least 1 goal here as Vladimir Ivić’s side have failed to keep a clean sheet in 4 out of their last 5 games.

Reading v Stoke

Thatsagoal prediction: Stoke to score over 1.5 goals

Reading had a dream start to their Championship campaign however in the last week or so the wheels have come off for Veljko Paunović’s men. They first fell to a 3-2 away defeat to newly-promoted Coventry and followed that up with a resounding 3-0 home defeat to Preston, this Reading side is not looking so invincible anymore. Stoke gave a good account of themselves in their 3-2 defeat midweek to promotion favourites Watford and will be hoping to be on the better end of a result when they travel to the Madejski Stadium on Saturday. Teams have started to work out Reading and it will be no surprise if Stoke manage to get something from this game.

Nottingham Forest v Wycombe

Thatsagoal prediction: Draw

Chris Hughton got his 2nd win in charge of Nottingham Forest with a 2-1 home win over Coventry in midweek. This has been a perfect appointment by Nottingham forest, Hughton has steadied the ship and got his side heading in the right direction. That draw against Watford last week looks to have kick-started Wycombe’s season, from looking almost dead and buried with 7 straight defeats Wycombe are now unbeaten in their last 3 games and have registered back to back league wins. They’re looking a lot more resilient, and showing fight in their game, expect a tight game when these two inform sides meet at the City Ground and expect both sides not to be separated after 90 minutes.

Brentford v Middlesbrough

Thatsagoal prediction: Ivan Toney to score anytime

Ivan toney scored his 10th league goal of the campaign when he netted in Brentford’s 1–1 home draw to Swansea in midweek, that result has taken Brentford up to 10th, 4 places behind Saturday’s visitors Middlesbrough. Middlesborough are unbeaten in 9 straight games and will be heading into this game full of confidence, this should be a highly competitive game on Saturday. With the form, Ivan Toney is in you’ll bet every game he’ll find the target, expect him to bag his 11th league goal on Saturday.

Sheffield Wednesday v Millwall

Thatsagoal prediction: Sheffield Wednesday to Win

After the news broke that Sheffield Wednesday’s -12 point deficit will be reduced to -6, spirits will certainly be up with everyone involved with the football club, especially after also registering a fine 1-0 home win over Bournemouth in midweek. After suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Huddersfield, Millwall followed that up with a 0-0 draw away to Norwich. You get the impression this is a bad time to be playing Sheffield Wednesday at the moment, with the news on the points deficit heavily on their minds they will be playing with confidence and enough hunger to claim all 3 points.
