Ivan Toney – Peterborough vs Fleetwood

It feels like Ivan Toney has been knocking around the Football League for the best part of a decade, but he is just 23-years old, and there is still plenty of improvement to come. He had a decent season for Posh last year and went through some very prolific spells at London Road. He scored 23 times in all competitions during 2018-19, including four times in his last two matches. Toney has scored goals wherever he has been with numerous strikes for Scunthorpe and Wigan the season before that, and he is likely to be a starter alongside Mo Eisa in this clash. Darren Ferguson likes his side to play with plenty of attacking verve, and with a supply line from Marcus Maddison, new signing Serhat Tasdemir and the two Georges: Boyd and Cooper, he should enough service this season. Toney ended last season in fine form and has been playing well in pre-season, so he is a decent bet to notch against the Cod Army on Saturday.

Ryan Bowman – Exeter vs Macclesfield

I’ve banged on enough about Exeter and Ryan Bowman in my pre-season previews, and I’m hoping he can repay my faith by getting off to a flying start. The Grecians have a very winnable looking fixture about Macclesfield, and Bowman is likely to be heavily involved for our anytime goalscorer tips. He is likely to be pair alongside new arrival Nicky Ajose, and although he is the more tireless and selfless of the two forwards, he stands a decent chance of getting off the mark. Bowman scored his first Grecians goal against the Silkmen last season, and that was the catalyst for a run of form which saw him notch five in seven. Macc are likely to struggle, and they have lost a number of players this summer. Sol Campbell will have his side battling away, and competing throughout, but the hosts are likely to have too much quality in the end.

Aaron Collins – Forest Green vs Oldham

FGR have lost a number of strikers this summer with Christian Doidge heading north of the border, whilst Reuben Reid and Tahvon Campbell have both made the short journey to Cheltenham. However, Mark Cooper has moved quickly to replace the outgoing players by snapping up Aaron Collins, who impressed at Morecambe last season. The former Newport man joined Morecambe and played his first game in mid-February. He scored nine times for Jim Bentley’s men before making his move south. Collins is a natural finisher, and as one of the club’s only forwards, he is likely to be the main man in the final third. We aren’t entirely sure what to expect from Oldham this season, but they are acclimatising to a new boss (again), and haven’t looked convincing in pre-season. Collins could get plenty of chances.
