Fantasy Premier League Captain Tips for Gameweek 9 – Abraham, Mane or Kane?

Fantasy Football tips

Fantasy Football makes a welcome return after the international break this weekend and the all-important question needs answering once again – who should be your captain for Gameweek 9?

Gameweek 8 was dominated by high profile captaincy failures. Kane, Son, Salah, Pukki, Aubameyang, Sterling and Aguero all failed to deliver despite promising fixtures meaning there were some low scores on show. Here’s a look at this week’s picks.

Captains Tips for FPL this week

You can see the rest of our Fantasy Football tips including this week’s ins and outs you should consider. There seems to be favorable matches for Chelsea (Newcastle at home) and Leicester (Burnley at home) so Abraham and Vardy will be popular picks. England captain Harry Kane scored in both Euro 2020 qualifying matches during the break and his side play Watford at home. Liverpool play Manchester United away but with more injury problems after David De Gea limped out of Spain’s match with Sweden, that shouldn’t put you off picking Mane of Salah for the captain’s pick.

Option 1 – Sadio Mané (11.7m) vs Manchester United

One popular pick who didn’t fail to deliver in gameweek 8 was Mané. The Senegalese winger has once again staked a claim to be the Liverpool FPL pick of choice. Mané is 0.8m cheaper than Salah and is now two points ahead of him in the overall scoring. Manchester United are in freefall and have plenty of injuries. This could be another double digits points haul for Sadio.

Option 2 – Harry Kane (10.9m) vs Watford

Spurs face bottom of the league, Watford, at home this weekend. Kane scored in both England internationals during the break and has scored or assisted in four of his last five Tottenham games. No side has conceded more goals than Watford this season and Spurs have shown that they are capable of putting sides to the sword as they did against Crystal Palace in gameweek 5.

Option 3 – Tammy Abraham (7.7m) vs Newcastle

Our last option has displayed the kind of explosive form that merits consideration for captaincy this week. Chelsea no.9 currently leads the scoring charts with eight goals. Abraham has already delivered double digit returns on three occasions this season. Chelsea play Newcastle on Saturday and are capable of racking up the goals.

Recommended FPL Captain for Gameweek 9

We’re backing Premier League top goalscorer, Tammy Abraham, to add to his tally at Stamford Bridge this weekend. The England forward had failed to score in two matches before finding the net against Southampton last time out, and back at Stamford Bridge he’ll be expecting to get goals against a Newcastle side who conceded five in their last away game. Abraham has already score two or more in three Premier League fixtures this season and it’d be no surprise to see him do the same again this weekend.
