How To Choose Teams For Your Football Accumulator

There are so many things to consider when choosing an accumulator. It is far from easy. Our football tips experts work hard on our accumulator betting tips and take a series of different factors into account.
There are a range of strategies you can use when working out the teams to back in your accumulator.
Consider the following:
- League Positions
- Current Form
- Player Form
- Head-to-Head results
- Injuries/Suspensions
- The relevance of the Fixture
League Position
If a team are doing well in their league table, they’re probably a good selection for your accumulator. However, the caveat to this is that a team might be near the bottom of the league but playing well and that is where point two becomes as important, form. League position is a good starting point but do dig deeper into the stats to find out if a team is playing up to their league position.
Current Form
Would you really want to bet on a team to win a match if they’re on a five match winless run? Form is very important when picking any type of football bet. Check stats sites to see which teams are in good form, and which teams are struggling. There might be some big hints as to who should be in your accumulator tip for this weekend.
Player Form
Some teams are over-reliant on one or two big players and if they are not playing well, the chances are their team will struggle. For example, if Richarlison is in a bad run of form for Everton, they are much less likely to win their upcoming fixture so it might be wise to leave them out of your accumulator tip.
Or even bet on the opposition.
Head to Head Results
Some teams play well against certain teams and struggle against other teams. These are called ‘bogey teams’. Liverpool have struggled against Crystal Palace in recent years, for example. Although we wouldn’t necessarily predict a Crystal Palace win in these matches, it might be wise to leave Liverpool out of your acca based on head to head results.
Injuries/Suspensions
Would you really want to bet on a Crystal Palace win if Wilfried Zaha was injured or suspended? Injuries and suspensions can play havoc with teams chances of winning. Especially when it is a key player. Always check for injuries or any upcoming suspensions before placing your accumulator bets.
It could be the difference between your bet winning and losing.
The relevance of the Fixture
This section is particularly true towards the end of the season. If a team in a relegation battle are playing a team who are safe in mid-table and with nothing to play for, would you bet against the side battling relegation?
The same applies to the top of the league table. If a team are pushing for a place in the Champions League and face a tricky away fixture but their opponent are safe from relegation and cannot qualify for Europe, will that team’s players be 100% up for the match?
Always consider the relevance before adding a team to your bet.
