Forest Green vs Crawley – Forest Green Win

Despite having one of the youngest sides in the division, Forest Green have been outstanding, and have taken 21 points so far. Remarkably, they’ve conceded just five times in their opening eleven matches, and boast the best defence in the division. FGR didn’t conceded a home goal in September, and they will be full of confidence coming into this tie. Celtic loanee Jack Aitchison has been the star of the show so far although the experience of the Mills brothers has certainly helped Mark Cooper’s side to stay unbeaten in nine of their first eleven games. They face a Crawley side who have the 14th best away record in the division, and have only scored nine times on their travels so far. They did well to come back and draw 2-2 with Northampton last time out, however they are unlikely to get so many chances in this contest. The hosts should be in full control here, and they should collect three points.

 

Newport vs Carlisle – Newport Win

Another one of the division’s outstanding back-lines belongs to the Exiles. Mike Flynn’s men have conceded just three times at Rodney Parade this season, and they should be able to keep up that exceptional record on Saturday. True, they’ve only scored six times at home, however that has been enough to collect three points against Crewe, Port Vale and Plymouth. Last time out, they drew 1-1 at home with Exeter and last Saturday’s 2-0 victory at the County Ground was extremely eyecatching. They won’t give much away in this tie, and they should be able to get the better of an inconsistent Carlisle side. On the road, the Cumbrians have lost three of their last five games, and only just squeezed past Scunthorpe at the end of August. They lost here in March, and we could see a similar 2-0 scoreline here.

 

Port Vale vs Morecambe – Port Vale Win

Vale have quietly gone about their business this season, and they currently possess the second best home form in League Two. John Askey’s men are yet to be defeated at home, winning three of their five matches in front of their own fans. They aren’t blowing sides away with just seven goals scored, however they’ve conceded on just four occasions. They’ve won three of the last four games here, although last time out, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Mansfield. Morecambe rescued a point late on against Northampton on Saturday and there were jubilant scenes at the Globe as a result. The Shrimps have struggled this season, and they just can’t stop conceding goals. Since beating Macclesfield on their travels in mid-August, they’ve lost three games in a row and have conceded three times in each of their last three away trips.
