Carlisle vs Oldham Prediction – Over 2.5 Goals

Neither of these sides has convinced defensively so far this season. Only Morecambe have shipped more than Carlisle in their opening ten fixtures whilst only five teams (including Carlisle) have been leakier than the Latics. The two games between these sides last season were extremely entertaining with the matches finishing 6-0 and 3-1. Dino Maamria got his side a victory last weekend, although they still conceded a goal in the second half. The Latics haven’t kept a clean sheet since August 20th, and they had a run of three 2-2 draws at the beginning of the month. Each 0f Oldham’s last four matches have featured exactly four goals, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that sequence continue here. The Cumbrians have conceded seven times in their last four home games and although they were blunted by Forest Green last time out, they should be able to find a way through here.

 

Exeter vs Grimbsy Prediction – Exeter Win

Grimsby were hammered by Chelsea in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, and the Mariners could suffer a hangover as a result. It’s a long trip to St.James’ Park, and they will be facing League Two’s only unbeaten side on Saturday. The Grecians drew against Newport last time out, although that can be viewed as a decent result for Matt Taylor’s men. At home, they’ve conceded just three times, and have kept three clean sheets in five. They will tough to breach, and there could be some tired legs on show for the away side. Grimsby’s away form is very patchy, although they did beat Morecambe on the opening weekend of the campaign. Their other victory came against Walsall, who have slowly improved since. Last time out, a single goal was enough for Salford to secure all three points, and they found it incredibly difficult to break down a resolutely defensive FGR outfit. We’re expecting a narrow Exeter win.

 

Morecambe vs Northampton Prediction – Northampton Win

Northampton have been a difficult side to predict this season, although Keith Curle’s side have hit some form, and they could continue that winning form here. The Cobblers did blow a two-goal lead at the weekend, although they’d won three of their four previous outings. They’ve won at Stevenage and Swindon so far this campaign, and they should be able to leave the Globe with all three points on Saturday. Morecambe are struggling, and Jim Bentley’s side have not been able to put a run of form together. They’ve picked up just a single win this campaign, although they’ve shipped 15 in their last six League Two matches. Bentley’s men have won just one of their last 11 against Northampton, and they rarely enjoy much good fortune against this opposition. The visitors have won five of their eight visits to this stadium, and they are one of the division’s more in-form sides. An away win looks likely.
