Port Vale vs Oldham – Port Vale Win

Port Vale let us down last weekend as they could only pick up a point at home to Stevenage. Vale went on to spring a surprise in midweek, winning 2-1 at Valley Parade. Very few sides will leave West Yorkshire with all three points this season and John Askey’s men will be hoping to make it back-to-back victories. Their home record is very strong (last weekend aside) and they should be able to pick up maximum point against an inconsistent Oldham outfit. The Latics got back to winning ways in midweek, but they haven’t won on the road since August 24th. They conceded six in their last away trip and could find it tough going in Burslem on Saturday afternoon. Vale have picked up 11 points from a possible 15 in front of their own fans, and they’ll be expected to continue their excellent run of form here.

Stevenage vs Morecambe – Stevenage Win

Although they aren’t out of trouble just yet, Stevenage have improved under Mark Sampson and they can be quite dangerous opposition. They were defeated late at Swindon in midweek although they’re unbeaten in their last two games at the Lamex. At home, they edged past Grimsby two weeks ago and picked up an important point against Cambridge. Stevenage will consider a lower mid-table finish as a successful season and it could be their home form which helps lift them away from danger. Morecambe are undoubtedly in danger. There were rumours that Jim Bentley had been offered the AFC Fylde job although those seem to have subsided of late. They did beat Colchester last weekend, but lost to Forest Green in midweek and have been defeated in each of their last two visits to this stadium.

Walsall vs Mansfield – Mansfield Draw No Bet

There’s something not right at Walsall. The Saddlers are in dire form and they need to quickly get back to winning ways here. They sit in 19th and have lost four games in a row under Darrell Clarke. Despite early signs of positivity under the former Bristol Rovers boss, things have quickly turned sour and he needs something from this game. Mansfield were defeated at home to Salford in midweek and they continue to be a bit of an enigma. They sit just two points above their opponents although they’re unbeaten in each of their last three away games. They’ve drawn at Vale Park and the New Lawn and picked up maximum points at Blundell Park. They’re not easy places to go and they will fancy their chances at the Bescott.
