Cyprus vs Belgium Predictions and Betting Tips: Euro 2020 Qualifying Preview

Belgium betting tips

Cyprus vs Belgium predictions and betting tips for this Sunday’s Euro 2020 Qualifier on March 24th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

Cyprus enjoyed a routine Thursday evening victory over San Marino, but they face a much tougher challenge against World Cup semi-finalists Belgium on Sunday. They won’t simply roll over in Nicosia, but they are unlikely to be able to stop the Red Devils from finding the back of the net. Even without Thomas Meunier and Romelu Lukaku, Roberto Martinez’s side should find this a rather straightforward task. See our Cyprus vs Belgium predictions below.

Cyprus vs Belgium Preview

Belgium have been in excellent form since crashing out of the 2018 World Cup at the hands of eventual champions, France. The Red Devils found the net three times against a stubborn Russian outfit on Thursday night, and if Michy Batshuayi can improve his finishing, they could also bag a few here. Roberto Martinez’s side have had the habit of making a fast start in recent matches, and they were two goals up by the half-time whistle on Thursday. Despite losing 5-2 to Switzerland in an extraordinary game, they had taken a two goal lead in the first half, and they were also rampant in the opening 45′ against Iceland too. Cyprus may struggle to contain their visitors in Nicosia, and whilst I’m not expecting a whitewash in this game, the 15/8 on offer for Belgium to score two first-half goals is extremely tempting. Eden Hazard was in imperious form on Thursday, and he could give the hosts a real headache here. Belgium ran out 3-0 and 4-0 winners when these sides met in 2016/2017, and I expect a similar outcome once again. I wouldn’t put any punters off backing Over 1.5 Second Half Goals either, but the price is slightly smaller. Belgium should be able to make a fast start once again in the Mediterranean, and the Red Devils to net Over 1.5 First Half Goals is the first of our Euro 2020 qualifying tips for Sunday night.

Cyprus vs Belgium Goals Prediction

If we’re expecting Belgium to score early in this game, then surely some second half goals will follow. William Hill are offering 4/5 on the visitors to score in both halves, and that looks like a decent way of playing this one. It would have landed in each of the last two meetings between these sides, and in the majority of their away games during World Cup qualification. Although they left it late to add a third on Thursday night, it’s worth siding with again here. Cyprus’ recent home defeat to Norway saw them concede a goal either side of the break, and it should land once again. Although it’s an odds-on price, it looks a great way of extracting some value from an otherwise one-sided looking clash. It is the second of our Cyprus vs Belgium predictions for Sunday.

Cyprus vs Belgium Anytime Goalscorer Betting Tips

Michy Batshuayi is a hugely frustrating player, and the 25-year old was up to his usual tricks on Thursday. He missed countless opportunities, showcasing his alarming lack of composure in front of goal. However, he is enjoying life at Crystal Palace, and he is likely to start this contest with Romelu Lukaku’s enforced absence. He has netted for his country during the games against Iceland and Scotland recently, and I think Cyprus is the level of opposition against which he tends to thrive. Batshuayi isn’t prolific, and never will be, but he has an incredibly powerful presence, and if you have enough attempts, one of them is likely to hit the target! I think he can find the net on Sunday. Michy Batshuayi to Score Anytime is the third of our Cyprus vs Belgium predictions.

Cyprus vs Belgium Match Betting Preview

Belgium start the game as 1/6 favourites for this clash, and they will be expected to ease to three points here. The Red Devils are very efficient in front of goal, and many punters will be tempted by the -2 handicap on offer at 5/4. Cyprus are 16/1 to spring an almighty upset here, whilst it’s 13/2 for the game to end all-square.

The bookmakers are expecting goals in this encounter with Over 2.5 Goals priced up at a relatively short 4/7. Belgium are expected to notch the majority of these, and Over 3.5 Goals may also be tempting at 11/8. Cyprus fired in five goals on Thursday night, but these did come against San Marino. It’s 13/8 for Both Teams to Score? Yes in this one.

Eden Hazard is likely to be on penalty duty, and can be backed at 16/5 to notch the opening goal of the game. Michy Batshuayi is also the same price to break the deadlock. Dries Mertens hasn’t been anywhere near as prolific this season, but he is always a danger, and can be backed at 9/2 to open the scoring.
