England to win

England are one of the bookies favourites to go all the way in this competition and following their 6-2 thrashing of Iran in their opening fixture, it’s easy to see why many are backing them to do well. Gareth Southgate’s side were outstanding in that game and very few people will expect them to slip up in this one, and I’m inclined to agree. Although the USA put on a decent showing against Wales in their first game of the tournament, I don’t think they’ll have enough to stop England here and I think the Three Lions will come away with all three points.

 

Both teams to score

Despite thinking England will win this one comfortably, I do expect the USA to put up a fight and I think they will get themselves on the scoresheet. Even though England thrashed Iran, they still managed to concede two goals in the match and I think this game will be similar. The USA have a number of dangerous players such as Christian Pulisic and opening day goal scorer Timothy Weah, who will cause problems for the England defence, and I expect them to bag at least one goal in this fixture.

 

Weston McKennie to be booked

Weston McKennie has already picked up a booking at this World Cup, being shown a yellow card after just 13 minutes of their opening fixture against Wales. The Juventus midfielder averages 2.14  fouls per game in the Serie A this season and will be in for a tough game against the likes of 19-year-old England star Jude Bellingham in the middle of the park. I expect him to make a number of fouls in this one and won’t be surprised if he receives his second card of the tournament.
