ITV Racing Tips for Sunday 14th September from Doncaster and the Curragh

Last Updated on 13/09/2025 by Andy Clark

ITV Racing Tips for Today

More ITV Racing dominates Sunday with the fourth and final day of the St Leger Festival at Doncaster joined by the pick of the day’s racing in Ireland at the Curragh for day two of Irish Champions Weekend.

Nine races in all go to post throughout Sunday’s broadcast with five from Town Moor including Group Three action; while in Ireland there are four races live on ITV headed by the Irish St Leger.

Doncaster’s five live races on ITV Racing is part of an eight-race card and we preview all the Sunday action with through-the-card picks for Doncaster as well as selections for the Curragh’s ITV Racing coverage.

ST LEGER FESTIVAL DAY FOUR + CURRAGH TIPS – RACE-BY-RACE PREVIEW

1:20 Doncaster – I Love Julie Parkes Handicap (GBBPlus Race) (Div I) Cl4 (3yo+ 0-78) 1m2f

TELEPATHIC (5/1) won here two starts back in a lesser grade and having acquitted himself well at this level on the all-weather last month it might be worth chancing Simon Crisford’s charge to resume winning ways.

The Oasis Dream gelding struck by just over one length from Requiem in that C&D victory back in July and he was arguably unlucky not to win when last seen at Newcastle in a Racing League fixture, denied a clear run at a vital stage of the race.

That race has thrown up a subsequent winner, while the third home has ran well in a Class Three at Haydock next time. Back on turf at the scene of his last victory he could still have some improvement to come and this mark doesn’t look too prohibitive so he could be capable of a big run.

1:55 Doncaster – I Love Julie Parkes Handicap (GBBPlus Race) (Div II) Cl4 (3yo+ 0-78) 1m2f

PROJECT GEOFIN (5/1) is only 2lbs higher than when successful over C&D last month and a repeat of that effort can see Geoff Oldroyd’s charge land a hat-trick of victories.

The Calyx gelding had won over one mile previously at Pontefract in July, beating Anjo Bonita by two lengths, readily, and he showed this longer distance to be no problem when  latterly getting the better of Whiskey Pete by a half-length.

This is admittedly a stronger grade and he faces no easy task giving weight away to all his rivals; but in his current rich vein of form he could be worth chancing to go in again.

2:30 Doncaster – Betfred City Of Doncaster Handicap Cl2 (3yo 0-100) 7f

UP THE PACE (20/1, EW) wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in the Shergar Cup Sprint last month and Edward Smyth-osborne’s charge can get back to winning ways.

The Sands Of Mali colt had won twice earlier in the campaign at Ascot and over C&D and he ran well in defeat when pursuing a hat-trick at Newmarket in July, beaten just a half-length by Leadman where he had subsequent dual-winner Two Tribes behind him.

He might not have been seen to best effect at Ascot latest, but a return to this longer trip will suit and he can make his presence felt again for all this is another tough ask at this level. He’s been dropped 1lb for his Ascot run and he handles softer ground so there’d be no shock to see him competitive.

2:40 Curragh – Moyglare Stud Stakes (Group 1) (Fillies) (2yo) 7f

VENETIAN SUN (7/4) tries an extra furlong for the first time, but Karl Burke’s star can see out the additional yardage and make it five wins from five starts.

The Starman filly has gone from strength to strength this term in racking up a four-timer, most recently when gaining a narrow verdict over Gstaad in the Prix Morny at Deauville where she had to dig deep to hold off the runner-up.

That was another excellent effort from the filly who has also won at Newmarket, Ascot and Carlisle and she shaped as if an additional furlong would certainly be within her scope. Indeed, the new yardage could unlock another level of improvement and if softer ground doesn’t prove a negative she could rack up further Group One success here.

3:00 Doncaster – Betfred “The Classic Bookmaker” Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 6½f

COMMANCHE FALLS (15/2) isn’t the force of old, while one has to go back two years to find his last victory. However, the Lethal Force gelding has shown he remains capable of good form and he found only one too good at York last month when beaten just a head by Northern Ticker.

All ground seems to come alike to Michael Dods’ charge who despite a 1lb rise in the weights for that latest near miss remains very well treated on his historic form. A repeat of that latest effort could see him the mix again and this could be the day he ends his long losing streak.

3:15 Curragh – Bar One Racing Flying Five Stakes (Group 1) (3yo+) 5f

ARIZONA BLAZE (10/1, EW) has a good record at this track and the Sergei Prokofiev colt can return to winning ways in this Group One contest.

Adrian Murray’s charge has won three times this term, scoring over C&D two starts back in the Group Two Sapphire Stakes where he had reopposing Mgheera behind, although he did run below form when tried in the Nunthorpe last month where he finished behind that rival having possibly raced too close to the pace.

He’s likely better than he was able to show there and a return to this track can only be a positive for the three-year old who can bounce back with a better performance.

3:35 Doncaster – IPM Group Leger Legends Classified Stakes Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 1m

FINN IRONSIDE (9/1) gets the vote with the Due Diligence gelding arriving in search of a hat-trick of wins.

Ivan Furtado’s charge has been in good form since his return to action and following a switch to this yard, scoring victories over seven furlongs here in July and doubling up on the all-weather in August where he ran out a one length winner over Desert Raider.

He never saw a rival that day, immediately sent to the front and pushed out to score; the third has since boosted the form with a brace of wins and he’s only 4lbs higher here.

An extra furlong should prove no issue and if continuing in his current form he ought to be on the premises again.

3:50 Curragh – Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes (Group 1) (No Geldings) (2yo) 7f

GSTAAD (Evens) can get back on the scoresheet having found only the progressive Venetian Sun too good at Deauville last month.

That run may just have been needed after a couple of months off the track, and Aidan O’Brien’s charge had looked a very good prospect prior to that defeat when winning both his races including the Group Two Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He ought to be straighter for that return which came on the back of a slight injury and an extra furlong to go here can bring out further improvement in the Starspangledbanner colt who could prove a tough nut to crack.

4:10 Doncaster – Japan Racing Association Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f

CIRCE (25/1, EW) has been in good form in handicaps this term, winning three times and the Kodiac filly can go well upped to Group company.

Richard Hannon’s charge has struck victories over six furlongs at Newmarket, Windsor and back at Newmarket two starts ago, beating Rebel Path by two lengths, and she was far from disgraced finishing sixth in the Stewards’ Cup last month on her latest run.

She was possibly just given too much to do there, but this extra furlong suits and the C&D winner could be worth another crack at this level.

4:25 Curragh – Comer Group International Irish St. Leger (Group 1) (3yo+) 1m6f

Unlike the British equivalent, the Irish St Leger isn’t age-restricted and ILLINOIS (11/4) can give Aidan O’Brien another winner in the race.

The Galileo colt was progressive last term, only once finishing outside the first two and registering victories at Ascot in the Queen’s Vase and at Longchamp in the Prix Chaudenay. In between those victories the Ballydoyle runner had collected a trio of silver medals which include in the Doncaster St Leger where he was denied only by stablemate Jan Breughel.

Having taken the Ormonde Stakes at Chester on his reappearance he chased home Trawlerman at Ascot in June and more recently was denied by less than one length by another of his stablemates in Scandanavia at Goodwood. Both those runs came over further than this, but he’s equally effective at this distance and he’ll be suited by a proper gallop which he could get given there’s a fair amount of pace in the race.

Softer ground holds no fears and the Galileo colt can give Aidan O’Brien a third win in the race in four years.

4:40 Doncaster – IPM Group Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-90) 5f

JER BATT (6/1) has been running well in defeat this campaign and it might be worth chancing the Dragon Pulse gelding to get back on the scoresheet.

David Barron’s charge has finished third the last twice, beaten less than two lengths by Solar Aclaim at Yarmouth in July and more recently in a higher grade at Haydock eight days ago when beaten by Democracy Dilemma.

Despite the winning margin it was a solid effort and it is worth bearing in mind he was only beaten one length by subsequent Group One winner American Affair back in April when rated 4lbs higher than his current mark. He’s only 1lb above his last winning mark and another big run wouldn’t come as a surprise.

5:18 Doncaster – Land Of Lights Festival At Gulliver’s Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-78) 5f

BRAZILIAN BELLE (7/1) has been in consistent form this term, often making the frame and also managing to score at Thirsk in July when beating Tiva by two lengths. It might be worth siding with the Coulsty filly to resume winning ways here.

Michael Dods’ charge has made the frame in both starts since, beaten only a neck by Jm Jhingree under a penalty at Musselburgh seven days later and more recently beaten just one length into third by reopposing Jojo Rabbit at Beverley where she gave the impression that she might be feeling the effects of a busy spell.

She’s been given more of a break between her runs and she returns here from a mark that she may still be able to exploit if finding a little more improvement. She’s already shown she can handle softer ground so any further rain will be in her favour and she could make her presence felt in the Doncaster finale.

About ITV Racing

ITV has a long history with horse racing having first launched ITV Racing way back in 1969. However, following Channel 4 enjoying the rights for some time, it’s only recently relaunched in the last few years with former Sky Sports man Ed Chamberlain heading up the coverage.

With hundreds of meets across the year, horse racing on TV has never been better, with a wealth of great pundits analysing all the action and offering their thoughts on how each meet will go.

ITV Racing Pundits

  • Kevin Blake
  • Jason Weaver
  • Luke Harvey
  • AP McCoy
  • Ruby Walsh
  • Oli Bell
  • Matt Chapman
  • Alice Plunkett
  • Brough Scott
  • Ed Chamberlain
  • Francesca Cumani
  • Lucy Verasamy

Some of the ITV Racing pundits tips are better tipsters than others and it is Jason Weaver and Kevin Blake who we’d recommend listening closest to for their tips.

Kevin Blake has a very strong knowledge of the Irish horses and works closely with trainer Joseph O’Brien in deciding which races his horses will run in. Jason Weaver is a former jockey and a student of the sport so his knowledge will often find winners during the live TV coverage.

Matt Chapman often posts winning selections on his Twitter account and Paddy Power blog but the outspoken pundit does also pick some bad tips.

The host of the show, Ed Chamberlain, is also very knowledgeable of the sport and he does have a good record of picking the winners of some of the big races including Tiger Roll in the Grand National and Anthony Van Dyck in the Epsom Derby.

What Channel is ITV Racing On?

The ITV coverage varies from ITV main channel, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 so be sure to check your TV listings for all the ITV channels if you are looking for the ITV Racing schedule before reading our best bets.

How We Select Our ITV Racing Tips

Of course, we’d be silly not to take into consideration what the pundits above are saying as we bring you our ITV Racing betting tips, but a whole heap more analysis goes into them too.

We work hard to deliver you the most accurate betting tips for the TV’s upcoming meets and consider a number of factors, which include:

  • Horse Form (both current and historic)

  • Handicap

And much, much more to ensure all our ITV Racing betting predictions are in as good of a position to win as they can be.
