About ITV Racing

ITV Racing is the home of live horse racing on free-to-air television in the UK. Every Saturday during the Flat and Jump seasons, ITV1 broadcasts live coverage from the day’s top meetings – and during the major festivals, ITV’s cameras are at Cheltenham, Aintree, Royal Ascot and Goodwood for the biggest races of the year.

Every race shown live on ITV gets a tip from our racing team. We cover win bets, each-way selections and ante-post picks for the feature races, with selections published the night before or on the morning of racing so you have time to get your bets on at the best available prices.

What Our ITV Racing Tips Cover

Each ITV Racing tips post covers every race in that day’s ITV card – from the opening novice hurdle to the feature handicap. For every selection you will find the horse’s name, the reasoning behind the pick and the key form factors that make it stand out.

We focus on three types of selection:

Win bets on horses we consider the most likely winner based on current form, going conditions and course suitability.

Each-way bets on bigger-priced runners where the place terms represent value even if the horse does not win. Each-way betting is particularly useful on competitive ITV handicaps with large fields – see our each-way betting guide for more on how this works.

Value bets where we believe the available price underestimates the horse’s chance – using the principles in our understanding probability in betting guide.

How to Bet on ITV Racing

The most important thing for ITV Racing punters is to use a bookmaker offering Best Odds Guaranteed. ITV races are well-publicised and markets often shorten significantly between the morning and post time. BOG means if you take a price early and the SP is bigger on the day, you are automatically paid at the better odds. See our Best Odds Guaranteed guide for full details.

If you are new to reading a racecard, our racecard abbreviations guide explains every abbreviation you will see next to a horse’s name – including what C&D, BF and OR mean and how to read the form figures. Our full horse racing terms guide covers every piece of terminology you will encounter.
