Last time we headed to Winged Foot GC for a major was back in 2006 when Geoff Ogilvy won with a score of +5 which shows how brutal this course can become.

US Open Tips – Win bet

My first selection is JON RAHM 10/1 WIN. Jon Rahm is playing some really strong golf as of late and all aspects of his game appear to be in top shape heading into this week. He is a great driver of the ball hitting it long and straight a lot of time which is what will be required this week. He is very good around the greens and holes out well which is going to be crucial this week as every player is going to miss greens and have to scramble well.

He won the BMW Championship 3 weeks ago despite a slow start and the players that week all agreed that the venue that week was set up like a US Open. Therefore, that has to be the perfect preparation for him here, after backing it up with a solid effort at the Tour Championship the week after. Rahm is ready to become a major winner, but could it be in our US Masters predictions for this week?

US Open Each-Way Betting Tips

My next selection is TONY FINAU 33/1 EW (Paddy Power 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10).

Tony Finau is a player who has always struggled to get over the line when in contention but a lot of the time it’s down to excellent play down the stretch from his rivals whereas he just falls short. I think this type of test is what he needs as he won’t need to make birdies when in contention, he can just grind away and make pars which could well be enough. Another great driver of the ball who could be set for a big week here. He has 4 top 10s in his last 7 starts so the game appears to be in good shape and his recent major record is very strong suggesting he excels in the big tough scoring events like this one will be.

Tommy Fleetwood (each-way) 35/1

My next selection is TOMMY FLEETWOOD 35/1 EW (William Hill 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9). Fleetwood’s game is tailor made for a US Open as he strikes the ball as well as anyone and on a going week he drives the ball as well as anyone. He played in Portugal last week which seemed a strange move at the time but that course played trickier than previous years with the rough up and the course playing firm. He got better and better as the week went on last week and I think he will have shaken off any rust there ahead of a big performance this week. His final round score of -7 will have him full of confidence which was supported by his interview after the final round where he said he was very happy with the shots he hit down the stretch finishing birdie birdie. He has nearly won a US Open before finishing second to Koepka at Shinnecock Hills in 2018 and hopefully he can go one better this year.

My next selection is TYRELL HATTON 45/1 EW (William Hill 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9). Hatton is having the best season of his career and he is a playing thriving on confidence as of late. He won the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier in the year in what was a tough scoring event backed up by the -4 total winning score.  His game has continued to be in fine fettle with strong performances in the FedExCup Playoff events and I can see him going well this week and contending for that first major victory.

Will Zalatoris (each-way) 150/1

My final selection is WILL ZALATORIS 150/1 EW (Paddy Power1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10). Zalatoris is a name not many people will be aware of but I’m sure everyone will know him in a few years. He is a young talent that is contending week in week out on the Korn Ferry Tour. Finished with an -8 final round on Sunday to just miss out by one his game appears to be in great shape as he heads to Winged Foot GC. I have no doubt he is a PGA Tour player in waiting and he can show some of the talent he possesses to the fans this week. A win might be a stretch too far but there is no reason who he can’t place at huge odds.
