City haven’t had their best start to a league campaign, but travel to London to face Brentford this weekend looking to go seven unbeaten and climb from seventh in the league.
Pep Guardiola’s side have won two of their last three league matches, with their last victory a 5-1 hammering at home to strugglers Burnley. They’ll be hopeful of another win here as they look to get into the title race in the early stages of the season.
Brentford made a poor start to league business with just one win from their opening five league matches. However, they welcome City this weekend after dispatching their City rivals Manchester United 3-1 last Saturday.
Brentford vs Man City Bet Builder Tip
Brentford vs Man City Predictions
BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Man City to win @ 13/20
City are unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions and, despite winning only half of their opening six league fixtures, will be confident of a win away to Brentford on Sunday. City are free scoring, with the most goals in the league despite being in seventh position (14 goals scored).
Brentford have won just one of their last five, and they’ll struggle to get anything out of an on-song Man City here.
ALTERNATIVE BET – For higher odds, you could take Man City half-time/full-time, meaning they need to be leading at the interval as well as the end of the match. Doing this boosts the odds of the bet builder to 65/1.
Player to Score Anytime Tip – Erling Haaland (4/5)
Erling Haaland is a goal machine and we all know it. No bet builder involving Manchester City would be complete without backing him to bag a goal or two.
So far this season, the Norwegian striker has scored eight goals in just six Premier League matches, as well as notching three goals in two Champions League appearances. City will create a lot of chances here, and it’s a fairly safe bet that Haaland will be on the end of at least one of them.
ALTERNATIVE BETS – if you fancy him to score more than one, you can boost the odds by taking him to score two or more goals at 11/4.
Player to be Carded Tip – Vitaly Janelt (17/5)
Vitaly Janelt doesn’t actually collect a lot of bookings and is yet to be carded this season. However, coming up against Manchester City is no easy task, given the quality they have in the middle of the park, and I expect him to be forced into making a couple of fouls here.
Last season, he made 24 fouls in the league, picking up three yellow cards. I think most bookings will be for Brentford players in this fixture, as City will have the lions share of possession, and I fancy Janelt to pick up a booking.
Player to be Carded Tip – Jordan Henderson (19/5)
For similar reasons to his teammate, I’m also backing former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson to be carded in this one.
He’s also yet to be carded this season, but his stats to back up this selection slightly more than Janelt’s. Playing for Ajax last season, he picked up 11 bookings – six in the Eredivisie and five in the Europa League. The season before, with Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, he was booked four times in just 17 games. In his last Premier League season with Liverpool, he collected two cards in the league.
He has made four fouls this season, and I think he will take up the role of breaking up the play here, and will be forced to make several more.
If you don’t fancy the cards here, you can take Janelt (1/2) and Henderson (1/1) to make one or more fouls, reducing the odds but giving you a higher chance of a win with this one.
