Nottm Forest 21/10 (home to Crystal Palace)

I’m taking a risk this week by tipping the team that sit bottom of the pile in the Premier League. Their task won’t be easy against an improved and in-form Crystal Palace side.

I think momentum is key here and with Forest beating Spurs in the EFL Cup in midweek, I think they take that momentum into this. They are unbeaten in 4 at home which included a 1-0 against Liverpool and I’m optimistic they can continue that form. Forest were unlucky not to beat Brentford last weekend and I’m hoping they can get their fair share of luck on Saturday and continue their form in front of their own fans.

Palace are in good form themselves and they go into Saturday’s game on the back of a great win at West Ham. 1 defeat in 6 is a credit to Patrick Viera’s team but I think that becomes 2 in 7 come 5pm and I’m happy to back Forest here.

Bristol Rovers 6/5 (home to Fleetwood)

There should be no love lost in this fixture as Joey Barton and Scott Brown clash for the first time in the dugout. Their rivalry on the pitch was fierce and I can see that transferring to their players on the pitch at the Mem on the weekend. Only 1 point separates the teams at the start of the day and I think there’s going to be little between these here.

I’m siding with the home side though after their recent good form in October saw them climb the table and out of the relegation zone. Performances and points against Plymouth and Wednesday showed they can compete with the best in League One and I’m hoping they can turn those recent good performances into 3 points on Saturday.

Fleetwood are the draw specialists with 9 draws in 17 games and they won’t be easy to get the better of but I’m backing Joey Barton to get the better of his opposite number and get Rovers back on a winning run.

Plymouth 13/10 (away to Lincoln)

Another week and another confident selection for top-of-the-table Plymouth Argyle who still remain overpriced even though they are the best team in the league. I really can’t get my head around the way bookies have priced them up all season. I’ve been with Argyle most weeks this season and that won’t change on Saturday.

Lincoln have been very inconsistent this season and there’s been no better example of that form than their 2 cup ties this week. Losing to National League South side Chippenham in the FA Cup followed by winning away at Championship side Bristol City in the EFL Cup just 3 days later.

Argyle had a reality check in the FA Cup themselves after a battering at League Two Grimsby but I expect them to bounce back here with a return to the league and the chance of 3 points.

Lincoln played in midweek and that may count against them here. A lot would have went into that performance and Argyle would have benefited from the free week.
