Euro 2020 is almost here and each football fan is buzzing. The long-awaited European championship is set to provide us with a spectacle that we haven’t seen before. Many of the qualified teams are in fantastic recent form and realistically looking, every national team is a potential winner of this prestigious tournament.
Group E is a rather interesting group as it consists of pretty much-levelled teams that will battle to win a spot that will take them to the next round. We will be taking a closer look into the teams here and see what are their chances of winning Euro 2020, but also see how bookmakers rank them. Without any further ado, let’s start with the group’s biggest favourite.

It goes without saying that Spain had the most impressive run from 2008 to 2012. During this period, they were practically unbeaten as they had the best players in the world. Not only that, but the team had perfect harmony, which made them far more lethal. Those days are now gone and even though Spain are not what they used to be, the team possesses a massive threat to the Euro throne.
Their most notable recent win came in 2020 as they demolished Germany 6-0, but they do have quite a few draws – 4 in their last 10 competitive games to be more exact. It will be interesting to see if they can weather the storm in this group and come out on top. Bookmakers give them the odds of 1/3 to finish first in Group E, while their odds of winning the Euro are 8/1.
One of the best things about watching Sweden in Euro 2020 is the fact that Zlatan Ibrahimović is likely to return to his national duty and help the team achieve the greatest honour. Although he is 39 years old, he does not show any signs of slowing down. Not only that, but the team is filled with experienced players like Andreas Granqvist (the captain), Sebastian Larsson, and Mikael Lustig, as well as young talents such as Dejan Kulusevski.
The young blood combined with the elderly experience can prove to be a threat for all teams in the group, as well as for all other competitors in Euro 2020. Bookmakers give them odds of 6/1 to finish first in Group E, while their odds of winning the European championship are 80/1.
If having Spain legends and the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimović wasn’t enough, here comes Poland with one of the deadliest strikers currently in the game – Robert Lewandowski. Other key players in their squad include Wojciech Szczęsny and Piotr Zieliński. Poland’s best-ever run in the Euros was in 2016 when they reached the quarter-finals. Now that the team is stronger than ever, they are looking to improve on that record and do everything they can to win the championship.
In the past 3 Euros, Poland has been recording better results each time, which is why they might climb to the top this time and win the European championship. The odds that bookmakers have given them to reach that milestone are 80/1, while their odds of finishing at the top of Group E are 11/2.
Finally, we have the biggest underdog in Group E, but definitely not a team that needs to be taken out of the equation. Their biggest achievement came while being part of Czechoslovakia as they won the Euro in 1976, while their best result since those days was in Euro 2020 when they reached the round of 16. Slovakia has proven that they can be a force to be reckoned with and have more than what it takes to go past the group stage.
Bookmakers’ odds of Slovakia finishing at the top of Group E are 14/1, while their odds of winning Euro 2020 are 250/1.

Group E will be fun to watch for multiple reasons. While Spain may seem like the clear favourite, the fact is that they are not as strong as they once were. Not only that, but the rest of the three teams are somewhat on an equal scale, which means that the level of competitiveness will be high.
Even if Spain manages to finish at the top of the table, as many predict, the battle for the second spot will likely be very close and thus, entertaining to watch. That means that fans should tune in to each game if they want to have fun.
Spain are the obvious favourites to win Group E at odds of 1/3. Poland are 11/2 and will be heavily reliant on Robert Lewandowski, Sweden are 6/1 and will hope Zlatan Ibrahimovic can inspire them to something special, and Slovakia are the outsiders at 14/1. It would be a shock is Spain were to miss out on top spot in this group but they have struggled in some competative matches in recent seasons so do not write off a shock in this group.
Spain – 1/3
Poland – 11/2
Sweden – 6/1
Slovakia – 14/1
