Manchester United vs Newcastle Bet Builder Tip
- Newcastle to win (9/5)
- Anthony Gordon over 0.5 shots on target (5/6)
- Matheus Cunha over 0.5 shots on target (7/20)
- Manuel Ugarte to be carded (13/5)
Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United welcome Newcastle United to Old Trafford this Boxing Day in an 8pm kick-off. Both sides will be looking to provide their fans with the late Christmas gift they’re all hoping for, with three points.
Manchester United have won seven of their 17 league matches, drawing five and losing five. They’re seventh in the league.
Newcastle are in 11th place after 17 games, but are only three points behind their opponents in this one. They’ve won six, drawn five and lost six so far this season.
Man United vs Newcastle Bet Builder
BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Newcastle to win @ 9/5
I think 9/5 are very good odds for Newcastle to win away from home at Old Trafford this Boxing Day. The Magpies have had a decent season and have lost only three of their last 10 in all competitions, drawing three and winning four in that time. They drew 2-2 with Chelsea last time out, following a 1-0 derby defeat away to Sunderland. Before that loss, however, they hadn’t lost in the league in four matches. Man United are winless in their last two league matches, with a defeat against Aston Villa following a 4-4 draw at home to Bournemouth. They have won four of their last 10.
Anthony Gordon over 0.5 shots on target (5/6)
Anthony Gordon was excellent in that 2-2 draw with Chelsea, and I think he’s good odds to have one or more shots on target in this one. The England winger has scored two in 12 in the Premier League this season, with five in six in the Champions League. He has also scored one for England recently, in their World Cup qualifying campaign. He has had nine shots on target in his 12 league appearances this season, and I think he will have at least one in this one.
ALTERNATIVE BET – Anthony Gordon to score or assist @ 7/5
With seven goals and three assists in all competitions this season, Gordon is having a decent season. As I said, his performance against Chelsea at the weekend was impressive, and he registered one assist in that one, for Nick Woltemade’s second goal. For his first, Gordon’s shot was parried by Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez and Woltemade followed up. I think this is a good bet if you fancy slightly higher odds.
Matheus Cunha over 0.5 shots on target (7/20)
I’m also backing United striker Matheus Cunha to have at least one shot on target against Eddie Howe’s side. The Brazilian forward has three goals in his 13 Premier League appearances for Man United this season, with 18 shots on target, an average well over one per game. Last season, he scored 17 goals in all competitions while playing for Wolves – 15 in the Prem and two in the FA Cup, having 44 shots on target in 33 league matches. I think he will back up the stats here, and is good odds for a shot on target.
Manuel Ugarte to be carded (13/5)
Manuel Ugarte was carded in United’s last outing – a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa – and I think there’s a good chance he will pick up another booking here. That was his first booking of the season, despite making a total of 13 fouls in 11 appearances, an average of more than one foul per game. He will be coming up against a physical Newcastle midfield here, including Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton, who are all never shy of getting stuck in. I think he will make a couple of fouls this weekend, and I’m backing him to pick up his second booking in as many games here.
