While most horse racing fans’ attention will undoubtedly fall on Kempton for the King George VI Chase, it is easy to forget that Leopardstown’s traditional four-day Christmas Festival also gets underway on Boxing Day.

There is plenty of classy action taking place in Ireland, with the Grade One Racing Post Novice Chase spearheading a six-race card at Foxrock.

Leopardstown Boxing Day Tips 2025

While UK punters will need Racing UK to view the Irish action, viewers in Ireland can be heartened to know RTE2 will have the pick of the Boxing Day Leopardstown action with four races shown live, including the Grade One feature. There will be Cheltenham Festival 2026 clues amongst the three days of racing and you can see our four Boxing Day betting tips for Leopardstown below.

1:10pm Leopardstown – Changing Times Brewery Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 2) (3yo) 2m

BARBIZON (11/4) was an impressive winner of his hurdles debut at Navan last month, and Gordon Elliott’s charge could be the way to go in RTE2’s first televised Leopardstown race.

The King Of Change gelding won twice on the flat for Joseph Murphy over the summer, and he was thought good enough to tackle Listed company before a switch to hurdles, where, equipped with a first-time tongue tie, he ran out an easy winner over reopposing Ben Hur.

Still a bit green, he caught the eye travelling well into the race and taking up the running over the last hurdle before being pushed out under hand and heels riding. The runner-up in that race went one better next time, beating the third home, and that form can be upheld given he’s open to significant further improvement.

Underfoot conditions shouldn’t pose an issue as he was a good ground winner on the flat, and it was very testing at Navan when last seen, so he’s a versatile sort ground-wise and expected to progress for that impressive debut; he can make it 2-2 over timber.

1:45pm Leopardstown – E-Auctions Novice Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) 2m

At a big price, it could be worth having a small punt on MONEY DANCER (20/1), who makes a quick return to hurdles after cutting little ice at Dundalk seven days ago.

Placed twice over hurdles last term, which includes at this meeting twelve months ago, the Belardo filly got off the mark when successful in a first-time hood at Galway in September before being thrust into a Listed handicap at Listowel, where she finished down the field. She ran well despite only finishing fifth latest at Wexford, her momentum halted by a late mistake after which she folded.

The handicapper has eased her 2lbs which gives her a chance, and she could well bounce back with this ground no issue to have a say at the business end in a competitive contest.

2:20pm Leopardstown – Racing Post Novice Chase (Grade 1) (4yo+) 2m1f

High-class hurdler ROMEO COOLIO (4/5) has made a seamless transition to the larger obstacles, winning both starts in this sphere with his most recent coming in the Grade One Drinmore Novices’ Chase, where Gordon Elliott’s charge readily beat Gold Dancer.

The Kayf Tara gelding was third at the Cheltenham Festival back in March in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, but he had won here the time before, and a return to this track can see him maintain his unbeaten record over fences.

A wide-margin winner of his chase debut at Down Royal in October, he was impressive in taking the Drinmore, where he jumped and travelled extremely well throughout to win with plenty in hand. He’s sure to improve further, and while this shorter trip isn’t perhaps altogether ideal, he could nevertheless prove a tough nut to crack.

2:55pm Leopardstown – Racing Post Handicap Chase (4yo+) 2m1f RTE2

MA BELLE ETOILE (14/1) might have been amiss when disappointing at Tramore back in August, and having since been given time off, it may be worth chancing a better performance now by the Doyen mare.

A Cork winner over hurdles back in May, she got off the mark at the second attempt with victory at Wexford in July, where she had two subsequent winners behind her. She didn’t jump with any real fluency when last seen, but she is likely capable of better and given she’s only had three starts over the larger obstacles, there could still be some improvement.

She has run well before on the back of a break, and with the forecast softer ground no issue, she may well be capable of a big performance off this sort of mark.
