Reasons for Saturday’s Football Tips

With fourteen games remaining in the Championship, Fulham and Barnsley need vital points at both ends of the league table and their clash at Craven Cottage features in this Saturday Accumulator. Meanwhile, Portsmouth, Coventry and Swindon will all hope to enhance their promotion ambitions from Leagues One and Two against lower table opposition with the final selection involving Notts County hosting recent poor travellers Woking in the National League.

Fulham vs Barnsley Betting Tip – Fulham win.

Towards the end of December, there was some hope that Barnsley could be easing their relegation fears with a decent sequence of form, but five Championship defeats this year and just one victory earned have dented those original hopes. The Tykes now travel to face a Fulham team beaten just once since the festive period and winners of four of their last five league matches at Craven Cottage. With the return of Aleksandar Mitrovic to full fitness and four clean sheets registered in six league games, Fulham are now challenging for automatic promotion and they are likely to win this contest.

Portsmouth vs Shrewsbury Betting Tip – Portsmouth win.

A 1-0 midweek defeat at Coventry ended a nine-game winning sequence for Portsmouth but they will enter this match having won their last five league fixtures at Fratton Park and with no visiting League One having claimed three league points at the venue this season. Shrewsbury will be the latest team aiming to secure maximum away points but they have won just league contest on the road since mid-October when narrowly winning 1-0 at Blackpool. The Shrews have won just one competitive match this year when beating Bristol City in the FA Cup and appear set for another loss.

Southend vs Coventry Betting Tip – Coventry win.

Despite an unbeaten sequence of four matches at Roots Hall, Southend remain entrenched in the League One relegation zone and two successive defeats including a midweek 4-0 loss at Peterborough will not have helped morale. A visit from Coventry now awaits and the Sky Blues are unbeaten in league action this year with three successive victories earned this month including an important 1-0 midweek win against fellow promotion challengers Portsmouth. An away win is likely for in-form Coventry.

Swindon vs Scunthorpe Betting Tip – Swindon win.

A 1-0 midweek win at Northampton ensured that Swindon remained top of the League Two table and they now return to the County Ground where they are unbeaten in league action since the beginning of October. The Robins now welcome a Scunthorpe team which has been very inconsistent lately and has earned just one point from three previous away matches in league action with at least two goals conceded per fixture. Facing a potent home attack will not be ideal for the Iron and a third consecutive away loss is predicted.

Notts County vs Woking Betting Tip – Notts County win.

Just one National League defeat suffered since the beginning of December has improved the promotion play-off prospects of Notts County while Barnet and Barrow are the only visiting teams to have claimed three points at Meadow Lane this season. County now host a Woking team which has disappointed on the road lately having lost seven successive away matches in competitive action. The Cardinals have also failed to score more than once in any of their five previous games and could be facing another defeat.
