Charlton vs Cardiff Betting Odds

There is very little between these two sides in the Championship table and there’s also little to separate them in the betting odds. Cardiff are marginal favourites with Betway at 6/4 and will be lining up under Neil Harris for the first time. The former Millwall boss will be hoping that his side can pick up three points and move into the top half of the table. Charlton have blown hot and cold in recent weeks and they can be backed at 19/10 this weekend. The draw is available at 9/4 and is our betting tip for this lunchtime clash. The bookies are fairly divided on the goals market with 10/11 for Over 2.5 Goals and 4/5 for Unders. BTTS is a bit shorter and can be backed at 8/11.

Charlton vs Cardiff Preview

Neil Harris was swiftly appointed as the new Cardiff manager earlier in the week following the dismissal of Neil Warnock. The Welsh side have been excellent at home this season, although their derby day defeat to Bristol City was the final nail in the coffin for the experienced gaffer. The Bluebirds are yet to taste victory on the road and they’ve kept a clean sheet in just 12% of their games outside of Wales. Worringly, they’ve failed to score in two of their last three games and Harris must find a way to get his side firing. At Millwall, he strongly favoured the 4-4-2, however he may have the players to be a little more flexible in his new role. It’ll be interesting to see whether he will adopt a different approach here. Harris has had four days to work with his squad ahead of this fixture and he will be hoping to take advantage of Charlton’s erratic form. The Addicks have failed to win any of their last four games, losing three of them and Lee Bowyer must ensure his side’s superb start to the campaign isn’t all in vain. They have lost just three times at the Valley and Bowyer will have had time to work with a number of players over the last two weeks ahead of this tie. They’ve not kept a clean sheet in four home games, although their games aren’t typically high-scoring. Cardiff are leaky on the road, and the likes of Josh Cullen, Conor Gallagher and Macauley Bonne will be hoping to take advantage of that.

Charlton vs Cardiff Predictions

Some Cardiff fans were sceptical about the appointment of Neil Harris and he will be hoping to get three points from this game in order to silence those doubters. However, despite their poor form, Charlton aren’t easy to beat at home and they may have to settle for a draw. The Addicks will be ready for this and their young squad may have benefitted from some much-needed time off. With little between these two sides, it could end all-square on Saturday lunchtime. The draw at 9/4 with Betway looks like the best option here. There’s also value in looking at the team to score first market here. Charlton are always quick out of the traps and at home, they’ve netted the opener in six of their first eight matches at the Valley. Cardiff have conceded the first goal in five of their first eight away games and this game could follow the same script. The hosts are value in this market and can be backed at 21/20 with Betfair to net the opener this weekend.
