Premier League Predictions for Boxing Day, 27th December and 28th December

Current image: Premier League predictions and betting tips

The Christmas period of football is here, and we kick things off with Manchester United vs Newcastle on Boxing Day, followed by seven matches on Saturday, 27th December, and the remaining two on Sunday, 28th December.

As ever, you can find this week’s Premier League predictions for every match below, with the best bets to place across the three days of fixtures, starting on Boxing Day. Last weekend, we had a great run, predicting seven of the matches correctly, including three correct scores and two best bets, all winning.

Our weekly predictions article would also be helpful for Fantasy Football, as we make accurate score predictions for each match, allowing you to see where we think players will earn clean sheet points, and also include occasional goalscorer tips.

Manchester United vs Newcastle Prediction for Boxing Day

Both of these teams are producing as many good performances as bad ones, so their matches are hard to predict. United played well but lost 2-1 to Aston Villa on Sunday, and Newcastle played really well in the first half against Chelsea to go into a 2-0 lead, but were pegged back to 202 in the second half when their performance fell off a cliff. Man United will be without Bruno Fernandes for this match. It’s a really hard one to predict so we’re going for the draw here. Hopefully, it will be an end to end encounter with neither side defending well at all for most of this season. If you’re looking for a betting tip on the match, both teams to score and/or over 2.5 goals looks the best play.

SCORE PREDICTION – 2-2 (get 12/1 with bet365: use this £30 bet365 sign-up offer if you need an account)

BEST BET – Over 2.5 goals (4/6 with bet365)

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester City Prediction

Manchester City are hunting down Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, but this will be a big test of their metal against a Forest side who are getting dragged back into the relegation fight after their Monday night defeat to Fulham. City have won their last six Premier League matches now, with notable away wins at Crystal Palace and Fulham. Erling Haaland is in ridiculous form and Phil Foden is also getting back to his best. This will be a tough task for Forest but Sean Dyche will look to shut up shop and play on the break. It might take a while, but I do think City will break them down eventually.

SCORE PREDICTION – 0-2 (8/1 with bet365)

Arsenal vs Brighton

The Gunners got back on top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought win against Everton on Saturday night, and back on home soil, they’ll be looking to consolidate that position. They haven’t been at their best in recent weeks, but their defence continues to drag them through matches, with the forwards eventually getting the vital goals. Brighton are another team who are having a mixed season, but most of their away form has been poor, especially when you look back at defeats at Liverpool, Manchester United, Bournemouth and Everton. That gives Arsenal the edge in this one, and it will be another top-class rearguard action from Mikel Arteta’s side.

SCORE PREDICTION: 2-0 (13/2 with bet365)

BEST BET: Arsenal to win to nil (29/20 with William Hill – use the William Hill £40 sign-up offer)

Brentford vs Bournemouth

These two sides are separated by just one point in the Premier League table, and Bournemouth come into this with no wins in eight matches. They were pegged back in the 90th minute against Burnley last weekend to leave the locals restless, and Iraola will have one eye on the teams below them with Leeds and Fulham picking up points. Brentford beat Wolves last week, and they will also have one eye on the teams below them, but home advantage here might give them the impetus to get the points. However, Semenyo can change a game on his own, so we’re predicting the spoils to be shared in this one. Igor Thiago needs to get back to scoring form if Brentford are to pull themselves away from the bottom end of the Premier League.

SCORE PREDICTION – 1-1 (13/2 with bet365)

Burnley vs Everton

Everton have had a difficult couple of fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal, and even though they had good spells in both games, came out with no points. David Moyes will be desperate to get back to winning ways in this one, and an away trip to Burnley looks the ideal chance to get three points. Losing Gueye and Ndaiye to AFCON and Dewsbury-Hall to injury is a big blow, and both Thierno Barry and Beto continue to struggle to score goals. However, they should be good enough to edge past Burnley, at the very least. Burnley stopped a run of seven defeats in a row with a stoppage-time equaliser against Bournemouth, but they have failed to score in four of their last five home matches, and we’re predicting a low-scoring Everton win in this one.

SCORE PREDICTION – 0-1 (6/1 with bet365)

BEST BET – Under 2.5 goals (8/11 with Betfred: use the Betfred sign-up offer to get £50 in free bets)

Liverpool vs Wolves

The Wolves fans will just want this season to end, and things don’t get any easier here. In fairness, they were unlucky against Arsenal at The Emirates but we can’t see the same thing happening here. Liverpool are still struggling to put a run of results together, but after their win at Tottenham, they’re six unbeaten now and look to be turning a corner. Talking of turning corners, Florian Wirtz looks like he is starting to find his form and position in this team. He got an assist for the first goal against Tottenham and had a couple of chances in front of goal. He will be hoping this is the day he finally scores a Premier League goal, and at the odds of 21/10 for Wirtz to score anytime against Wolves look like an early post-Christmas gift. Wolves cannot keep a clean sheet to save their lives so expect a few Liverpool goals in this one.

SCORE PREDICTION: 3-0 (15/2 with bet365)

BEST BET – Florian Wirtz to score anytime (21/10 with BetMGM – use the BetMGM sign-up offer to get £40 in free bets)

West Ham vs Fulham

This is a huge match at the bottom end of the Premier League table. West Ham are five points adrift of safety and 10 points behind Fulham. If the Hammers don’t win this one, they will already be looking at a mountain to climb to stay in the Premier League. Fulham, on the other hand, can put some breathing space between themselves and the bottom six with another win against a side around them following Monday night’s win over Nottingham Forest. West Ham will see this as a must-win, and with some glimpses of better performance up until the 3-0 loss at City last weekend, home advantage might give them the edge in what could be a wide-open affair. Jarrod Bowen will be the catalyst in a West Ham win.

SCORE PREDICTION – 3-2 (28/1 with bet365)

Chelsea vs Aston Villa

What a turnaround for Aston Villa. They started the season with three draws and two defeats but have since climbed to third in the Premier League table, winning 10 straight matches in all competitions. Chelsea are another team this season that can’t put a consistent run together, and their performance in the 202 draw with Newcastle showed this perfectly. They were terrible in the first half but dominated the second half to rescue a point. It is hard to predict what Chelsea team will turn up here, but Villa are in such good form, and they know a win here will put 10 points between themselves and Chelsea, so we’re predicting an away win. Just.

SCORE PREDICTION – 1-2 (14/1 with bet365)
