We’re treated to a Saturday evening triple header in the Premier League this weekend as Tottenham host Liverpool, Arsenal travel to Everton and Leeds face Crystal Palace.
Our betting expert Andy Clark has been through all 10 of the weekend matches and made his Premier League predictions for each game, as well as outlining the best bets for some of the matches.
Arsenal hold a two-point lead at the top going into the weekend, but they face a tricky trip to Everton on Saturday night. Man City are right on their shoulder after four straight wins, and Aston Villa continue to go about their business.
At the other end of the table, Wolves look like a lost cause despite giving Arsenal an almighty fright last weekend. They face Brentford at home on Saturday, and a defeat could be the final nail in their Premier League stay. Happy Christmas indeed.
Burnley and West Ham make up the bottom three, and both need to start picking up points quickly – Leeds and Nottingham Forest are picking up points and putting some space between themselves and the relegation zone, and Fulham got a much-needed win last weekend.
See this weekend’s Premier League predictions below as well as the best bets to place on the action.
Newcastle vs Chelsea
Newcastle were nothing short of shocking in the Tyne-Wear derby last weekend and they scraped past Fulham in the Carabao Cup quarter-final in midweek. Eddie Howe has credit in the bank, but he will be well aware that the Newcastle fans and owners expect better than 12th. Chelsea are still up and down and beat Everton 2-0 last weekend, but the away side missed a couple of glorious chances to make it interesting. It is obvious Cole Palmer is key to their top 4 ambitions, and after missing out for the midweek Carabao Cup win over Cardiff, they’ll be hoping he is back in the side.
SCORE PREDICTION: 1-1
Bournemouth vs Burnley
Bournemouth played out a 4-4 draw in the game of the season at Old Trafford on Monday, and it looks like Antoine Semenyo has re-found his form in front of goal after a dry spell. Burnley need points, and quickly. They are six points from safety going into the weekend matches, and Scott Parker’s ‘keep it tight at the back’ mantra is flawed somewhat against Premier League quality. Bournemouth will need to sure up their own defence if they are to climb into the top half of the table but scoring goals shouldn’t be a problem against this Burnley defence.
SCORE PREDICTION: 2-0
BEST BET – Antoine Semenyo to score anytime (13/10 with BetMGM: sign-up to BetMGM to get £40 in free bets when you bet £10)
Brighton vs Sunderland
Both of these sides are having good seasons in the Premier League, and we can’t separate the sides in this one. Sunderland will be on a high from their Wear-Tyne derby win last weekend, and Brighton will want to bounce back from defeat at Anfield. Sunderland will want to ensure safety before they start looking upwards in the table, but they have lost players to the African Cup of Nations and they might erode any chances of a win here. A point will be a good result on the road for the Black Cats, though.
SCORE PREDICTION: 1-1
Wolves vs Brentford
Wolves fans probably want this season to be over, and it is no surprise. They are rock bottom of the Premier League table, playing terrible football and lost in the last minute at Arsenal last weekend. Brentford were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Leeds last weekend and will start looking over their shoulder if they lose a couple of games over Christmas, starting with this one. We’re backing the Bees to bounce back.
SCORE PREDICTION: 0-2
BEST BET – Brentford to win (21/20 with Boylesports: sign up to Boylesports to get £40 in free bets when you bet £10).
Man City vs West Ham
Erling Haaland triple captainers assemble on Fantasy Football. I’m going out on a limb here and saying this is the banker of the season so far. Man City are finding some really good form ahead of the busy period, conveniently as Phil Foden gets back to his form of two seasons ago. They still don’t look completely solid in defence, though, so they will have to be aware of Jarrod Bowen’s quality. However, City will win this and it is just a case of how many goals Haaland will score.
SCORE PREDICTION: 3-0
Tottenham vs Liverpool
This is the hardest Premier League match to call this weekend. Spurs are still so up and down, and Liverpool are in the same type of form. Their 2-0 win over Brighton last weekend was a welcome victory, and Hugo Ekitike continues to impress. Mo Salah has gone to AFCON so that debarcle can be shelved for now, but we don’t know what Tottenham side will turn up. Spurs’ 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest was shocking last weekend, and Thomas Frank is a man under pressure. The players need to bounce back quickly here because another heavy defeat would create a toxic atmosphere.
SCORE PREDICTION: 2-2

Everton vs Arsenal
This will be a good test for Arsenal after stuttering in recent weeks. Their defence has been unsettled with injuries, and they needed some luck to beat Wolves in injury time last weekend. This is the type of match Everton will relish at home – 8pm on a Saturday evening in front of a big atmosphere. It will be tough for Arsenal, but they can scrape through. The Gunners have had some troubles away from home this season – Sunderland, Chelsea and Aston Villa – and Everton will want to put the pressure on early. However, they tried that against Newcastle and were 4-0 down. The Toffees are struggling with injuries and two of their best players have gone to AFCON, so we’re predicting a hard-fought Arsenal win.
SCORE PREDICTION: 1-2
BEST BET – Tim Iroegbunam to be carded (23/10 with BetVictor: sign-up to BetVictor to get £30 in free bets when you bet £10)
Leeds vs Crystal Palace
As with the match at the Hill Dickinson Stadium above, Leeds will relish this game. 8pm under the lights at Elland Road is the worst time for away sides to visit, and although Palace are having a fantastic season again, Leeds are in good form. Mateta has gone off the boil just as Dominic Calvert-Lewin has come to the boil. Leeds win.
SCORE PREDICTION: 2-1
Aston Villa vs Manchester United
What a turnaround it has been for Aston Villa this season. After languishing towards the bottom of the table in the early weeks, they have shot up to third in the table, three points off Arsenal. This is another match they’ll expect to win, and if Ollie Watkins can re-find his goalscoring form, who knows where Villa will be at the end of the season. United are leaking goals, and although the performance going forward was better in the 4-4 draw with Bournemouth, Mbeumo and Amad have gone to AFCON, so this one is another Villa win.
SCORE PREDICTION: 2-0
Fulham vs Nottingham Forest
The last game before Christmas is an interesting one at the bottom end of the Premier League. Both of these sides should have enough to climb away from the relegation zone, but if any of the bottom four sides put a run together, they’ll be dragged back into it. Fulham beat Burnley 3-2 last weekend and Forest put up a top-class display to beat Tottenham 3-0. Sean Dyche is working well with Forest, but they did lose 3-0 at Everton in their last away game. Fulham have lost three of their best-performing players to AFCON (Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Calvin Bassey), so it would be no surprise to see Forest get something out of this match.
SCORE PREDICTION: 1-2
BEST BET – Nottingham Forest Draw No Bet (23/20 with Ladbrokes – join Ladbrokes to get a £20 free bet when you bet £5)
