Liverpool are absolutely flying this season, and results elsewhere recently have ensured their form is getting its deserved rewards as they sit top of the table, five points ahead of Man City. The Reds have won nine, drawn one and lost one so far this campaign, and haven’t been beaten in any competition since the 14th of September when they lost to Forest. They come up against bottom side Southampton here, and I think they’ll win fairly comfortably. Luis Diaz has been exceptional this season. The Colombian has five goals and two assists in his 11 league appearances, having nine shots on target in that time. Liverpool will dominate this game and will create plenty of chances. With Diaz in fine form, I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t have at least one shot on target. The player we’re backing to score? Mo Salah, obviously. The Egyptian King, as he’s known amongst the Anfield faithful, has eight league goals to his name so far this season, bagging one in the Champions League and one in the Carabao Cup. Since joining the Reds in 2017, Salah has scored a minimum of 18 league goals each season, and I’m backing him to continue his fine form with a goal here. Flynn Downes is the only player we’re taking to be booked here. With Liverpool expected to dominate, Southampton will become frustrated, especially in midfield. Downes has been booked in four of his 10 Premier League appearances so far this season, making a huge 18 fouls in that time. He’s good odds for a card here.
