Bournemouth betting tips

It’s a trip to face Bournemouth this weekend for league leaders Arsenal as they look to kick off the new year in style. Arsenal are four points clear at the top, while Bournemouth are 15th.

Bournemouth are in the midst of a very poor run, having gone winless in their last 10 matches in the Premier League, losing five and drawing five of those games.

Arsenal have lost only two of their 28 competitive matches so far this season, with 14 wins from 19 in the Premier League.

BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Arsenal to win @ 1/2

I don’t see a positive outcome for Bournemouth this weekend. With only two defeats all season, Arsenal are flying. An impressive 4-1 victory over Aston Villa last time out was their fourth league win on the bounce, and I expect them to continue that form in this one. With Bournemouth winless in 10, I can only see one outcome from this one, and that’s a victory for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.

Leandro Trossard over 0.5 shots on target (1/2)

Leandro Trossard is the first of two Arsenal players I’m backing to have one or more shots on target in this one. The Belgian scored his seventh goal of the season in all competitions last time out against Villa. Five of those have been scored in the league, where he has had 27 shots and 10 on target. Arsenal will create a lot of chances here, and Trossard is good odds for a shot on target.

Mikel Merino over 0.5 shots on target (7/10)

The second player, I think, is decent odds for a shot on target is Spaniard Mikel Merino. The midfielder has scored five goals this season, with three in the league and two in the Champions League. He also scored six in six for Spain in their World Cup qualifying campaign. He has had five shots on target in 18 league appearances, four in six in the Champions League, and one in three in the Carabao Cup. Those stats aren’t the strongest, however, as I said, I think Arsenal will create a lot of chances here, and Merino at 7/10 for a shot on target is a good shout.

Alex Scott to be carded (5/2)

I’ve gone for Bournemouth forward Alex Scott to pick up a booking at 5/2. He has been booked once in the league this season. However, he has made 19 fouls in 19 appearances, an average of one per game in the league. Those fouls warrant a higher number of cards so far, and he could grow frustrated as his side are limited in terms of possession by Arsenal this weekend. 5/2 is good odds for him to pick up his second card of the season.

ALTERNATIVE BET BUILDER BET – Alex Scott over 1.5 fouls

If you fancy a safer option, taking Scott to make over 1.5 fouls comes in at even money, leaving this bet builder at 7/1. With an average of one foul per game, he will make at least one. However, a hard game against Arsenal may mean he’s likely to foul more often.
