However, Didier Deschamps made a good amount of chances for that game after they became the first team to qualify for the last 16 after winning their opening two matches. France are the current holders of the World Cup and I expect them to go far in this competition as well. Poland qualified from their group with four points, drawing with Mexico, beating Saudi Arabia and losing to Argentina last time out. I don’t think they’ll have enough to cause France too many problems in this one and I think the French will win comfortably.

Despite thinking France will win this one without too many difficulties, it’s hard to see past a Poland side with Robert Lewandowski leading the line. Poland got on the scoresheet in only one of their group matches, but they’ll be right up for this one in the knockout stages of the completion against the current holders of the competition. I expect a good amount of goals in this one and I think they will come from both teams.

 

Kylian Mbappe to score

Kylian Mbappe has scored three goals at the World Cup so far, all coming in France’s opening two fixtures as he was rested for their final group match against Tunisia. He did come on in that match but couldn’t help France come back from 1-0 down as they lost their final Group D fixture. However, I think Mbappe will get back in amongst the goals in this one as he looks to challenge for the golden boot and inspire his side to World Cup glory once again.
