Croatia to win

Very few people would be brave enough to bet against a Croatia win in this one. The Croats have won five of their last six matches, drawing the other, and have lost only one in their last 16. They had a successful tournament in the 2018 World Cup, reaching the final only to be beaten 4-2 by France.

They defeated the likes of England, Argentina, and Denmark in that tournament, and will be looking for a similar run this time out hoping to go one step further. Morocco’s squad is not quite as strong as the Croatian’s, and I expect Zlatko Dalic’s side to win this one comfortably.

Luka Modric over 0.5 shots on target

Luka Modric is widely regarded as one of the best midfield players of his generation. The Real Madrid star averages 1.74 shots per game for Real Madrid in La Liga this season, and I expect him to get a couple of chances here with Croatia expected to spend most of the game on the front foot.

In the last World Cup, he averaged 1.45 shots per game with an average of 0.53 being on target. He has bagged two goals in his last four for Croatia and is also their penalty-taker, so there’s a good chance this one will land.

Hakim Ziyech over 0.5 shots on target

Hakim Ziyech is the most high-profile player in the Morocco squad. The Chelsea midfielder has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge this season, but he will be the go-to man for Morocco at this World Cup.

He bagged a goal in his last outing for his national team with a stunner from inside his own half, and I expect him to have at least one shot on target in this one, despite coming up against a very tough Croatia side.
