Sunderland welcome Leeds to the Stadium of Light this Sunday afternoon. Sunderland find themselves in seventh place after 17 games, while Leeds are down in 16^th.

The Black Cats come into this one having lost only two of their last 10 matches. They were held 0-0 away to Brighton last time out, following a 1-0 victory over rivals Newcastle.

Leeds have been in good form of late, and are unbeaten in their last four matches with two draws and two wins in that time. They hammered Crystal Palace 4-1 last time out.

BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Sunderland to win @ 17/10

Despite Leeds strong form of late, I’m backing Sunderland to come away with all three points on Sunday at good odds of 17/10. Sunderland are enjoying their first season back in the Premier League, and have been consistently good over the season so far, finding themselves just two points outside of the top four. With seven wins, six draws and four defeats to their name this season, I think they’ll have enough to overcome Leeds here, especially at home.

Sunderland vs Leeds – Over 2.5 goals (13/10)

I think there will be plenty of goals in this one. For Leeds United, there has been over 2.5 goals in eight of their last 10 matches, including five last time out against Crystal Palace and six – a 3-3 draw with Liverpool – just three weeks ago. Sunderland are a more balanced, defensively solid side. They’ve only conceded 17 this season, scoring 19. However, Leeds’ style of play and their high confidence will leave them open at the back, and Sunderland have the players to punish them. I think over 2.5 goals is a good bet here at 13/10.

ALTERNATIVE BET – Both teams to score @ 19/20

You could take a slightly different angle and go with both teams to score at 19/20, slightly reducing the odds overall but meaning you’re not relying on as many goals. Both teams have scored in eight of Leeds’ last 10, and five of Sunderland’s last 10.

Sunderland vs Leeds Shots on Target Tip – Dominic Calvert-Lewin over 0.5 shots on target (4/7)

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has had a very decent season for Leeds. So far, he has bagged seven goals in 15 Premier League appearances. In that time, he has had a total of 33 shots, 16 of which have been on target. That gives him an average of over one shot on target per game, and I think he will have a number of opportunities in this one. The Leeds striker is good odds to have one or more on target on Sunday.

Sunderland vs Leeds Cards Tip – Ethan Ampadu to be carded (13/5)

Leeds midfielder Ethan Ampadu is always a good shout for a card, and I think 13/5 is generous odds. The Wales international has been carded four times in 15 Premier League appearances so far this season, and was also carded twice for Wales in their World Cup qualifying campaign. He has made 19 fouls in the league, giving him an average well over one foul per game. Coming up against a strong Sunderland midfield, including the likes of Granit Xhaka, I think he’s good odds to be carded again.
