Can Manchester City win the Premier League title again? After their fantastic start, it would take a brave man to bet against another title for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola. Liverpool look set to chase them all the way but it hard to see where Man City will drop enough points for Liverpool to keep up.
One issue for Man City could be trying to juggle the Champions League and Premier League fixtures, but Guardiola has assembled a very strong squad with depth all the way through so even if the likes of Sergio Aguero or Raheem Sterling got injured, he can call on players like Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez to come into the starting 11.
Liverpool don’t have quite that amount of squad depth and you have to worry for them if any of Saido Mane, Mo Salah or Firmino got ruled out for a long period of time. Daniel Sturridge is always a back-up striking option but he struggles with injuries himself and the likes of Adam Lallana haven’t quite made the grade under Jurgen Klopp.
Of the other challengers, Chelsea look the most likely and it will be interesting to see what business they do in January, with the possibility of a new striker coming into the team to replace misfiring Alvaro Morata and super sub Olivier Giroud.
Another big coup for Chelsea and Sarri would be to hold onto Edin Hazard – the Belgium star is constantly linked to Real Madrid and it seems only a matter of time before he swaps England for Spain and La Liga.
It is hard to see past a Manchester City title win in reality and they would still be our Premier League betting tip for a 2018/19 Premier League winner bet.
There are a few teams down the bottom of the Premier League who will already be worrying about their future in the top division but one team we are predicting to turn their fortunes around are Fulham. After a very poor start to the season they have a new manager at the helm and Claudio Ranieri should be able to get better performances out of a talented squad that includes the likes of Ryan Sessegnon, Andre Schurrle and Aleksander Mitrovic.
The two teams that do look in trouble are Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town. Cardiff were always going to struggle on their shoe-string budget and it would be no surprise if Neil Warnock didn’t last the whole season as Cardiff manager.
Huddersfield look to be struggling with second season syndrome in the Premier League but have started to pick up some good results of late, it remains to be seen if that can continue as the season goes on. They would still be one of our Premier League relegation predictions for this season though as they really struggle to score goals, and eventually that will spell trouble for the West Yorkshire outfit.
Watford were one of the favourites to be relegated at the start of the season with odds of 7/4 available but they look to have made good progress and are now expected to survive and finish in midtable. Their stats from FootyStats tell you just how well they have been doing and the Hornets fans will be hoping Troy Deeney and co. can continue their good start.
Huddersfield are not a very imaginative selection here but it is hard to see them surviving Premier League relegation again so they’d be the choice for our Premier League 2018/19 relegation prediction. David Wagner will have to work more miracles to keep his team up and the strength of the Premier League this season means they may just fall short.
It looks almost certain that Manchester City and Liverpool will fill two of the top 4 places even at this early stage of the season, and then there will be three or four teams battling it out for the final places.
Tottenham are always a consistent side and with Harry Kane up front, they will always score goals. They do miss him if he is ever injured but the England striker is always there or there about in the top goalscorer tables so keeping him fit should mean a top 4 place for Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs. Christian Eriksen is another key player for them and the emergence of Lucas Moura this season is an added bonus, Tottenham are strongly fancied to be in the top 4 come the end of the season but the bookmakers agree so the odds aren’t very appealing.
We’re expecting Chelsea to push Manchester City at the top of the table so they could be another team in the Premier League top 4 come May. However, one team who could sneak into a Champions League position are Arsenal under new boss Unai Emery. He has got Aubameyang and Lacazette working together and scoring goals and it would be no surprise to see them get into the top 4 in place of one of the fancied four. They would be our tentative Premier League betting tip for a top 4 finish.
Manchester United are already having a season to forget and it is hard to see enough other sides slipping up to allow them into the reckoning. It remains to be seen whether Jose Mourinho will be able to turn things around, or even if he will be in the job long enough to see it through.
As well as our tipsters providing today’s Premier League betting tips – we like to help you out with some advice on how to best bet on the Premier League. We can provide you with the analysis and stats ready for the bets but there are always some pointers to look our for when looking at our Premier League tips.
Always take into account injuries and suspensions – some teams will struggle more than others when their big players are injured. For example, Kevin De Bruyne’s injury didn’t seem to both Manchester City too much, but if somebody like Wilfried Zaha gets an injury for Crystal Palace, the team struggle.
Have the team played in Europe during the week? – There is always the question whether Europa League matches on a Thursday impact a teams performance when they play on a Sunday in their Premier League fixture. This season it is Arsenal and Chelsea who are in the Europa League so they should have squads big enough to cope with the demands, however, some Burnley fans are pointing to their early start to the season in that competition as the reason why they’ve been so poor so far.
What it the teams home and away form like? – It is all well and good analysing the form of a Premier League team, but to take this one step further, our Premier League tipsters always recommend looking at the form split into home and away. A team might be really strong at home but terrible away – so you’d look to only bet on them when they play at home. This also applies to the rul that if one of the top teams travel to a lower placed team with a good record, think twice about backing the higher placed team in your bets. The perfect example of this was Manchester United travelling to West Ham and losing 3-1.
