Leeds United take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Wednesday evening, as they look to extend their unbeaten run to eight games. Leeds are 16th in the league, with Newcastle in ninth.
Newcastle have won eight of their 20 league matches this season, and have won their last two league matches. They have won six of their last 10 in all competitions.
Leeds are unbeaten in their last seven, but they have drawn five and won two of those. They have won only five games in the league this season.
Newcastle vs Leeds Forest Bet Builder Tip
Newcastle vs Leeds Predictions
- Newcastle to win (7/10)
- Anthony Gordon over 0.5 shots on target (4/7)
- Dominic Calvert-Lewin over 0.5 shots on target (8/13)
- Joelinton to be carded (3/1)
Newcastle to win (7/10)
I’m backing Newcastle to end Leeds’ unbeaten run in this one. Leeds haven’t lost in seven, although five of those matches have ended in a draw. Newcastle have won their last two league matches, and are ninth in the league, just two points outside of the top six. The Magpies haven’t lost in their last five outings against Leeds, with four draws and one win in those fixtures dating back to September 2021.
ALTERNATIVE BET – Newcastle or draw @ 1/6
At odds of 1/6, Newcastle or a draw is a far safer bet if you don’t fancy them for the win. As I said, four of the last five between these two have ended in a draw. I wouldn’t be overly surprised to see the same outcome here.
BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Anthony Gordon over 0.5 shots on target (4/7)
Anthony Gordon has had a good season for Newcastle so far. The winger has bagged seven goals this season, with five in the Champions League and two in the Premier League. He has had 24 shots in 15 league appearances, with nine on target. In the Champions League, he has had six shots on target in six matches. I think 4/7 is good odds for him to have a shot on target here, a game in which Newcastle should create a good amount of chances.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin over 0.5 shots on target (8/13)
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in a good run of form at the moment. The 28-year-old has bagged eight goals in 18 Premier League matches this season, with 17 of his 34 shots this season being on target. That gives him an average of just shy of one shot on target per match. I think both teams will create chances here, and with six goals in his last seven, I think there’s a good chance of Calvert-Lewin having at least one shot on target.
Joelinton to be carded (3/1)
I’m backing Newcastle’s Joelinton to be carded here. The Brazilian has picked up seven cards in all competitions this season, with four in the league, one in the League Cup and two in the Champions League. In the league, he has made 19 fouls in 16 matches, so he averages more than one foul per game. At 3/1, he’s aexcellent odds to pick up his eighth booking of the season here.
