The magic of the FA Cup returns this weekend as Premier League Chelsea visit Wales to take on Championship Wrexham in this fifth round fixture.
Wrexham come into this one five games unbeaten, with four wins and one draw in their last five in all competitions, including a 1-0 win over Ipswich in the last round of the FA Cup. They are sixth in the Championship.
Chelsea come into this one off the back of a 1-4 victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday evening. They have won six of their last 10 in all competitions, and are fifth in the Premier League, three points behind Villa in fourth.
Wrexham vs Chelsea Bet Builder Tip
Chelsea to win (4/9)
I don’t expect Wrexham to cause an upset this weekend as they welcome Chelsea to the Racecourse Ground. Chelsea are right in the race for a top-four finish, and are having a decent season in the Premier League. They come into this one with six wins in their last 10, and I think they’ll win this one against lower league opposition. Wrexham are no mugs, however, and are big spenders under owners and Hollywood stars Rob McElhinney and Ryan Reynolds. They are sixth in the Championship with 15 wins from 35 league matches. However, I don’t think they’ll get much from Chelsea in this one.
BEST BET BUILDER TIP – both teams to score @ 7/10
I think both teams will score here. Wrexham will be keen to impress against a superior opposition from the Premier League, and while I don’t think they’ll win, I do think they will get on the scoresheet. The Welsh side have scored in nine of their last 10, conceding in seven of them. Chelsea have scored in nine of their last 10, also conceding in nine of 10. They’re the third-highest scorers in the Prem. I think both teams to score is a good bet here.
Cole Palmer over 0.5 shots on target (33/100)
I think Cole Palmer is a certainty for a shot on target here, should Chelsea go full strength from the off, which I think they will. Palmer has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season, with nine in the Premier League and one in the Champions League. He has had 17 shots on target in 21 matches in all competitions this season. Chelsea will have a lot of chances here, and I reckon Palmer will have at least one shot on target.
ALTERNATIVE BET – Cole Palmer to score @ 13/10
With the number of chances I expect Chelsea to create, I think there’s a great chance that Cole Palmer will chip in with a goal or two. At odds of 13/10, taking this selection increases the odds of this bet builder to 12/1 with Bet 365.
George Dobson to be booked (23/10)
Wrexham’s George Dobson is the man I’m backing for a booking in this FA Cup fixture. The defensive midfielder has been carded six times this season, all coming in his 32 Championship appearances. In that time, he has made a total of 28 fouls, which isn’t far off an average of one foul per game. In his two FA Cup appearances, he has made five fouls, an average of more than two per game. Against stronger opponents, he will be in for a difficult game, and I expect him to make a couple of fouls here too. He’s good odds for a card at 23/10.
